I think it was always going to be a tall order turning things round dramatically, especially with a group of contracted players taking up a percentage of the budget. In dogfights like the one we are in you need fighters and I think we have that in the likes of griff, Lee Phillips, Rob Dean and Tindle but there are also a few others that perhaps aren't going to jump out of the trenches and battle alongside them. I still think we should have just enough to avoid relegation and I think Mark should be judged well into next season when he's been able to start with a clean slate over the summer, recruit a better squad and have a good pre-season with them.
So although we may feel disappointed at the moment it's important we still get behind them, do our bit as fans and stay positive.

What players do you think should be signed Shaun and at this stage of the season would they realistically come?

Is the game definitely on tonight? Is there a pitch inspection planned at any time?

Ah right makes sense now, remember Kent from Supermarine now, seem to remember him being quite useful? Good back up for Ben then.
How long have we had a Goalie Coach, was he with us under Nathan? Last one I remember was Pete Hussey wasn't it under Adie Mings?
Is Chris Snoddy still playing anywhere?

Nice piece in the gazette today on the return to form of Ben John but no mention of who the new goalie is who has been on the bench the last few games? Perhaps competition for the number 1 jersey has helped? There is no doubt Ben is a good goalie on his day so good to see him playing well again and he could play an important part in our end of season run-in and bid for safety.

The last time I checked I was a real bloke joe . Just didn't think you had your best game last night when you came on that's all, which is understandable as you have been out injured. I'm sure you will be back to your best soon when you get back in your stride and play a key role in the run in.

Brian Smith and Rob Dean have both worked well as a centre midfield pairing in the last two games and Rob is proving to be a great signing by Mark with a great work rate and an eye for a goal.
Another pairing that is starting to work well together is Tindle and Oakley and behind them Ben John was excellent tonight.
Good to see Joe McClennan back tonight and although a slightly disappointing performance from him no doubt he will get back to his better form from earlier in the season once he regains match fitness.
6 big points this week and jumped out of the bottom 4 so a positive week, even Knappy Talks was rumoured to have broken into a smile (though it could have just been wind )
General Discussion » Lee Phillips in decline??? » 29/1/2014 7:02 AM |
To call him lazy is truly ridiculous, he works very hard for the team. The goals may not have gone is as much as he or the fans would currently like but it's certainly not through lack of effort. As I stated previously he brings a lot of other qualities to the team and personally I think more goals will come as the team gains confidence and creates more chances which they appear to be starting to do.

I think Lee Philips gives a lot to the team even when not scoring. He holds the ball up, he wins a hell of a lot of headers even against bigger centre halves and you can also hear him encouraging others and using his experience to help the players around him.
Scoring isn't just about one player and I'm sure with increased confidence within the squad as a whole, more chances will be created and he will take his fair share of those chances along with creating goals for others.
