Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

Agree Stratford. Good start and good we can rest or rotate the squad. Still no Baggeridge involved which remains a mystery.

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

He's at Salisbury, I assume to get game time. I know this might be a bit O.T.T. but I thought that Bowman was everywhere except where he should have been on the pitch yesterday. At times he was in the  diagonally opposite corner of the pitch than his position. He spent a lot of time and energy chasing back to cover and then not effectively. Looked really strong last season but at this level with the pace of the opposition's forwards he needs to be on top of his game and in position to cover breakaway attacks like the one that lead to their second goal. Question, do we also need both centre backs up for corners ? Richards has shown he can do the business without Tind's help, who should also be covering for the breakaway. Finally if you need to commit a foul don't wait till they are in the box, take one for the team when they're still on the have way line. "We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

Tindel stays back for corners, don't think you have been watching. Watch the video earlier and doesn't look a foul to me .

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

Ok maybe I got that wrong but you can't argue with the rest I've said, can you?

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

Tinder was actually telling Bowman to push forward and put there tiny wing back under pressure.
I'm not 100% sure of the keeper yet, great shot stopper but doesn't talk enough for me, a couple of times he was unsure whether to come or not and tins had to deal with it.
Thought their No10 bossed the midfield.

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

So because a keeper has claimed everything he possibly can, kicked evrything perfectly, made some great saves but he doesnt scream and shout and swear like keepers in the past youre not convinced? Im sorry Wellard but youre talking utter rubbish. Thought the 10 for them was decent 1st half but not so much in the 2nd. He was a good player when he was at Banbury and has shown he can step up.
Overall I think a real positive start. I do think Jared is the best keeper weve had in years, I think almost all players that have come in have done well and improved us with strength in depth also.

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

Remember he's not much more than a kid, all be it an immense figure between the sticks . He's still learning his trade ( that's why he's with us) most keepers don't peak until their late twenties, some even later. Whether he shouts or not, as long as the defence in front of him has confidence in him, it doesn't matter. Got to be one of our best signings as in future I expect he'll be playing league football. " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

So I'm talking rubbish Stratford because my opinion is different to yours? Brilliant :-)
He didn't catch everything though did he let a couple bounce in the box and Tinds had to block the striker to stop him getting it, looked a little hesitant at times. I'm not saying he's crap and I'm sure that he will get better with age.
We have conceded quite a few goals so far this season, so maybe the defence in front of him doesn't have that confidence.
now lets have a sensible discussion

Re: Chippenham Town v Oxford City.

'Wellard,' Appreciate you're entitled to your own opinion, however it feels like you might be out numbered on this one.

Jarred, as we know has a lot of class and ability (hence being a professional for Chelsea) - There is no two ways about it that the club have done very well signing him for the year. He is young, ambitious and only just starting his trade. Correct me if I am wrong but I would assume this is his first taste of mens football. Rather than picking out the negatives, let's get behind him and the squad on here!

As for confidence within the team, from what I read/hear the morale within the team is second to none. We are only seven games into the new league and it will take time to fully adjust, I feel the manager has been clear with his interviews that we need to avoid the individual errors, which will come. To say 'maybe the defence doesn't have that confidence' - How can you justify that?
