Jake Andrews

He's back

Re: Jake Andrews

Indeed he is Hobgoblin - initially for 2 months. We heard the news just after half-time at Hallen yesterday evening. There were all sorts of rumours and speculation flying around before kick-off last night, when it was confirmed there would a formal announcement at 8.20pm from the club, about what nobody knew !! Then confirmation came through that Jake would be with us for 2 months. In my view this is the signing that everyone hoped for. Jake made quite an impression during his loan period with CTFC last season, and once he got that brace of penalties under his belt against Merthyr, there was no stopping him. So how is the manager going to accomodate Jake in the Team ? Having enjoyed our first pre-season success 3-1 at Hallen yesterday evening, in my view Jake should continue the role he finished with last season, and that is feeding the front men. Josh Williams continues to impress me very much with his vision and foot work, and must be a strong contender for a starting place. The manager has a very strong squad now Jake has arrived, and I wonder if perhaps against Melksham Town this Saturday, we may see potentially during the game our starting line up for the new season. Everyone please do not forget the 'Meet the Manager' session this coming Friday in the Blues Bar - should be interesting. COYMB

Re: Jake Andrews

I don't know what budget Mark is working with this season but at the moment he's has a squad about the same size as some premier league clubs. Surely he is going to have to cull some of these players before the start starts. Then there's the problem of keeping all the remaining players happy with some not even making the bench. An interesting couple of weeks ahead for the management team. Who stays ? Who starts ? Whose on the bench ?Don't get me wrong this is a very strong squad and shows the chairman's intent on no just making up the numbers in this league but Challenging for honours. Welcome back Jake, hope you stay longer than the 2 months. "We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."

Re: Jake Andrews

Last night at Hallen there was no Will Richards, Ryce Baggridge, Matty Smith, Horgs or Chitts, I guess due to work commitments or holidays ? There were at least 20 of the squad at Hallen last night, so yes that is a huge squad, and indeed a very strong squad. For those who are going to the 'Meet the Manager' seesion this coming Friday evening, perhaps that will be one of the questions - who stays and who sadly we say goodbye to ? Positives from last nights game - Sands and Pratty up front together will always be a threat, and looked very lively, Scott and Dean Evans I'm sure will be the starters in midfield, those two guys do not stop running. Defense - no Will or Ryce last night, so a bit un-decided in that area. Keeper - up for grabs in my view as James Rea looks confident. Hopefully the Manager will have all the answers on Friday. Re: Jake Andrews

Another goood addition.... welcome back Jake! I can't wait for the season ahead. Yesterday, it was a very enjoyable game to watch, chippenham playing really good football throughout the game, I thought Dean and Scott were solid and have got to be strong contenders for a starting place first game of the season. We all know what to expect from Sandell and Pratty, a nightmare for most defences. The diamond shape with the wing backs the outlet does look good, Tindle looked solid as always and Nuno had an excellent game, looked a threat going forward, as did Dan. Agree with what has been said on the size of the squad as everyone wants to play, the next few weeks will be interesting, as I am sure there will be some changes/departures. Difficult decisions ahead for Mark and Tom, but I am sure it will be the best outcome. Roll on the 5th of August!

Re: Jake Andrews

I'm told last night Tom away for 2 weeks and Horgan on honeymoon so  MC doing the warm up looks like a very interesting time to Aug 5th, noticeable that chairman and manager were in deep conversation before kick. Jake a great signing and I agree with you regarding Scott and Dean Evans.

Re: Jake Andrews

Indeed Scott Donelley and Dean Evans are inspired signings. It's like having twin turbo's in the engine room of the Team. Both never stopped running until they were subbed later on in the game I think that pairing in the holding midfield area will pay dividends when the heavier pitches arrive. I looked at the Farnborough FC Forum at lunchtime today, and their fans are suicidal over the loss of Donelley, as he was the inspiration behind them gaining promotion to the SPL. Someone mentioned last night that he lives in that particular area. If that is the case then fair play to him for travelling 80+ miles for a home game.

Suicidal? I hardly thinks so! http://www.notabadname.org.uk/index.php?t=msg&th=5778&start=0&
