I have just read the article in the G&H about CTFC's plans to use a small part of the Donkey Field as parking.I understand that this is not a new plan as I think I read about this last year. Of course the usual vocal objectors are having a go about losing open space.
Now lets look at this " Open Space" , it's the triangle bordered by the path to the hockey pitch. The dog walkers say that they use it, sorry but its over grown an covered in nettles, so I think not. unless it's where they throw their bags of dog s**t. I expect someone will discover newts or a Roman farm house ( Range site) just to stop this happening. The current situation with parking is not sustainable especially with extra fans predicted now we are in a higher league. The plan also says the the parking would be available to the general public during the week ( free parking within walking distance of the station, win win.) So please C.T.C. use some common sense and approve this application and for once get behind your great football club.

Well said Hobgoblin and I fully agree and totally support what you say. The problem is that C.T.C. do not support or encourage the football club in any shape or form. It is well known in the town that they are only show interest in the rugby club from a sporting point of view. Despite the club enjoying it's best season ever, you would have thought C.T.C. would have latched onto this and used the club's success as a means of advertising what facilities potential fans from the new clubs we will be facing this coming season.
Can I give you an example of how keen C.T.C are towards the club ? At the Presentation Evening back in May, the Mayor (forgotten the guy's name now - that's the impression he left on me) actually feel asleep at his table after he had given a half hearted congratulations speech !!! I'm sure we will see him regularly at Hardenhuish Park next season - well that's what he said he would do - I think not somehow !!! COYMB

If we really are struggling to accommodate the extra vehicles after we put another 100 on the gate, yet managed double that 10 years ago, I suggest some of our fans get of their fat derriers and walk to the ground.

Hmm....Now I'm no fan of Chippenham Town Council, but didn't they chip in with about £8,000 a few years ago when the barriers collapsed behind the Town goal, during a match with Bath City? Only asking like!

Lord Voldermort said the fans should walk, I agree with that as I usually walk to games but some of the people I stand with come from Calne , Pewsham and Christian Malford, do you suggest that they walk? The whole point of having more off street parking is to do something about the cars parked on both sides of Bristol Road and thus make the traffic flow better. Also as we can't seem to attract the good people of Chippenham to support the team ( unless we're at Wembley) then we need to reach out to the surrounding towns and villages, therefore more parking is essential. " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want".
