Re: Champions

Well done to all at the club. Just a few years ago we started to get that sinking feeling, the management change and renewed support at board level turned things around and now we're league champions. Savour this moment!!

Re: Champions

So pleased for the players and the club but what an anti-climax today. If we'd managed 2-2 and kept the unbeaten run going I would have been ecstatic but really would have still felt like a damp firework. I fancy Frome to beat us on Monday now and then hopefully we can do the job properly next Saturday getting the win, the Trophy and medals. Personally I think the celebrations should have waited until then. If Leamington had won, then maybe we would seen a different reaction from the players today, Terrible first half and worst possible start to the second, although but for Chitty it could have been 4 goals for them after that.

Re: Champions

We won it. To celebrate at the earliest opportunity is understandable, as is not being on top of our game today. As for Monday its pride for both teams. I suspect the end of the season can't come soon enough.

Re: Champions

I totally agree with "Newfan" we should have left the pre-match celebrations on the tannoy of "we are the champions" until the game was over. The game was a total anti-climax after yesterday's result re Leamington.

We played awful in front of our biggest game of a wonderful season and must now hope as many people turn up for our last game of the season against St.Ives Town next Saturday.

The after-match celebrations should have waited until next Saturday when the Championship Shield and Medals have been awarded. It will be interesting to see how the team perform on Monday against Frome Town.

Re: Champions

Laughable. Half of you lot have been celebrating for the last week. First home game since declared champions of course it's a big deal. We still are champions just a bit of after the Lord mayors show that's all! Get a grip.

Re: Champions

Two more games left - let's get two wins and set the points record.

Re: Champions

Very disappointing indeed. Why wouldn't they be motivated to keep the unbeaten run going, infront of their biggest crowd for years? Most fans turned away and left at full time (one player ran to the touch line to retrieve a beer bottle from and ice box). Goodness knows how many more they had on Saturday night? They will struggle to get any more points after that performance? Come on guys you owe us a performance after that!

Re: Champions

'They owe us a performance after that'. Is that some sort of joke. They've just won us that league. Obviously they didnt want to lose but when the jobs done it is hard to get up for games no matter how much youd like to be. I think the lads are professional enough not to have got drunk saturday night but you could see they were going to enjoy themselves last night. And so they should. I thought despite risks the last 25 minutes we shown bits. But to say they owe us. Thats shocking and laughable. Theyve done the job. Yes go to win but im not and we shouldn't slate them if they dont. Im sure theyll be another crowd of 1000+ against St Ives.

Re: Champions

I guess the old cliche "didn't see that coming" would have been far more impactful if the title was still to be decided but let's give some respect to St Neots they came with there own southern league future in the balance and delivered probably their best performance this season and on that basis let's hope they survive.

Re: Champions

blackandamber are you being serious, every team in the country wants to win every week but even the best sometimes lose. Those players have given everything for 9 months and you say they owe usthat's very poor.I am normally very critical regarding the club but winning the league with 3 games remaining is an unbelievable effort. I will certainly enjoy watching Tindle lift the trophy next week.
