Especially sorry to see Josh Egan go - thought he was a great prospect given time. That goal against Badshot will remain with me for a long time. Clayton started poorly after playing so well against us and maybe time would have seen him gain his confidence - he needed to play!

Agree re Josh. G&H report he left to be guaranteed first team place, but he's been getting the nod over Ballinger, Barnes and Guthrie recently and I thought Barnes was playing mainly as injury cover for Guthrie?
Good luck to him

My concern is that we appear to be attracting the journeymen Semi-Pro players who are on there way down the pyramid rather than on the way up. I refer mainly to the likes of Phillips, Gilroy, Rogers, Rudge, Harris, etc, etc. They are not cheap and do they really have the desire needed? I bet they are the high earners and I don't think they have performed so far, I have been very underwelmed by Phillips, and I know Gilroy has now gone but they are not the players they were. The signing of Tyronne very much proves to me that I would be keener to have some younger hungrier players looking to impress, than those that are just doing the rounds.
Discuss?

Totall agree - after all if we are not going to get the results with the older experienced "pro's" then might as well give as many youngsters their head , as long as we realise it may take longer to start improving.
Tyrone loooks a very decent prospect

Couldn't agree more. Can understand why a relatively inexperienced management duo have gone for experience but the majority of them seem to be mates of Rudge and Fey or related to them in some way.
Did we need to sign Harris when we already had Harvey, they seem a very similiar type of player. Ideally we'd have a mix but we seem to prefer the older (dearer) players.
Disappointed to see Egan go, thought he showed promise but good luck to him

We simply don't have the money to buy instant success and so we have to think more of the medium to long term, during which time our young prospects, with careful nurturing, will hopefully develop into real assets. Having an older head or two playing alongside them will help with this, but only if the seasoned pro has the right attitude and one which the younger players can properly aspire to. My general rule of thumb with any new player is whether or not they represent the future of the club. If its a journey-man doing the rounds towards the end of his career, then the answer has to be no and we shouldn't touch them.
