Merthyr Tuesday

This is possibly our hardest away game so far. They are the only team unbeaten at home and are also scoring freely. After his sending off we could possibly be without Tin's who so far this season has been superb in defence. If we do manage to get ahead it would be nice if we could hold on to it, 4 points dropped in the last 2 games and all in the last few minutes. Those points could make all the difference at the end of the season as could keeping Sandell playing, as I have said previously 3 bookings in 3 games so prepare for a suspension soon.

Points won points lost it will even itself out over the 46 games. St Ives away !!Suspensions and injuries part of long season too. Agree Merthyr followed by Hitchin is very tough.

2-0 down at half- time.

Not looking good and fear the worst for Saturday v Hitchin

Re: Merthyr Tuesday

A truly excellent result in my view, as Merthyr is never a happy hunting ground for CTFC. To come back from 2-0 down shows great strength of character like the boys showed at Biggleswade on Saturday. There are no easy games in this league any more, as most teams we played earlier in the season have strengthened their squads now. It you had told me at the start of the season that we would lie 4th in this league with literally a single point separating 2nd to 4th places, I would take that all day long. I still think we are 2 players short of having a team/squad to win this league, but it is a fine achievement, and I hope everyone gets behind the Manager and the boy's for the big promotion push now. Re: Merthyr Tuesday

i will take a point at Merthyr as they a good outfit and to come from 2 down really shows the grit the team have this season.
At the start of the season the friends I stand with ( AKA the old men) started a double sweepstake, how many goals the team would score this season and how many the top scorer would get. Well I did a bit of research before putting in my guess and looked at the top teams goals from the previous couple of seasons and put my entry in as high 80's and mid 20's. It looks as I'm going to be blown out of the water as with half the season gone we have 50 and Sandell's got 20. Could we get 100 and could he get 40 . I hope so cause I think with those figures would win us the league. " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."
I know Mark doesn't like the term but Saturdays match is a real 6 pointer, so turn up and get behind the boys.

Re: Merthyr Tuesday

Can't fault the reaction in the second half, but as George has pointed out we appear to be leaking goals faster than those around us, with the exception of Frome I see who are now up to 6th. A few clean sheets and holding on to leads when we do have them would steady the ship.
Still worried about Hitchin this Sat at home - assume Tindle's red card on Sat will mean he is not available?
