Re: Pratt or Constable?

Not knocking what he was like, his partnership with Dave Gilroy was probably as  good if not better than Sandell and Pratt but 10 years on and playing with a different strike partners he doesn't seem to have that eye for goal he did then. On Friday the ball was crossed from the left across the box and he was two paces off putting it in the net. The Beano off old would have had the pace to connect with that shot.

Re: Pratt or Constable?

I do think if Constable did come back (not likely) he'd score more than Pratt, although Pratt IMHO offers more for the team. Constable has a very different role at Eastleigh, hold the ball up and lay off to the younger lad, thought he did that pretty well to be honest.
Charlie Griffin didn't offer much in terms of work rate for the teams he has played for, almost looking lazy at times, but you can't knock that goal scoring record,
Pratt has hardly been prolific which I think has stopped him playing at a higher level

Re: Pratt or Constable?

Well I hope he's prolific on Saturday as I believe Sandell is suspended, though I stand to be corrected .

Re: Pratt or Constable?

Sandell's one game suspension took effect from today so he will miss the Wilts Cup game at Swindon Supermarine tomorrow night. Assuming he is not injured he will be in the team for the FA Trophy game on Saturday.

Re: Pratt or Constable?

Oops I seem to have got the dates wrong. That's what happens when you post the content of a chat on the terraces without checking the facts.

Re: Pratt or Constable?

The question was EXACTLY about the here and now, and how Pratt would have destroyed Swindon. He would have course given it everything and I admire him as a player.
But I can only assume a succession of league managers were thick as pigsh*t in buying Constable not Pratt.

Re: Pratt or Constable?

Oh dear again you have missed the point here George!! No one is saying that Pratty would have smashed Swindon's backline into pieces however at an observation of the game I believe he actually would have caused more problems than a static James Constable who as much as I love as player was poor and to be honest showing signs of rust likely from not playing much this season. It wasn't just the immobile nature of his game it was the way he struggled to find a position on the pitch that was going to impact going forward where that used to be one of his biggest strengths... he was always an option and against Swindon he wasn't. Also this post is about CHIPPENHAM, who would you rather have in Chippenham colours based on their current ability and what they bring to the table not who would have damaged Swindon. As for the last comment, we all know as much as the next person that getting spotted in Non- League is about as much a lottery as anything and not suggesting managers in league football are thick or anything of the sorts but I am suggesting that in the Non-Leagues i'll guarantee you'll find Football League standard players that never go further than the Southern Prem because of a lack of awareness as opposed to a lack of quality!
