Re: Chitty

Why fear? Darren is a much better 'keeper

Re: Chitty

Well there are many reasons that another keeper may have been signed beyond being 'better' - and older. But Chitty wont be available for the FA Cup. I do hope Kent is.

Though worth noting that when we got through to the first round in 2005 we had to get a cricketer to fill in.

Edit: Just checked the current standings and perhaps the answer is obvious. Weve conceded 50% more goals than the teams around us. Whilst given my lack of games I cant pin that at Kents door (bar one v Cambridge) Mark cant let that continue.

Re: Chitty

According to the Frome statement reference Chitty:

A new challenge is probably what he needs to regain his fitness, sharpness and get his hunger back.

Lets hope he gets them all back soon if he's a replacement and not just cover.

Re: Chitty

According to the club website "latest news" Gary Horgan has signed for the club. No doubt this will get me censured for daring to make comment about communication.

Re: Chitty

You can read the Frome statement as sour grapes that he is leaving or that he really wasn't first choice there any more. Either way will he move just to be on the bench to cover Kent? Perhaps he can get some fitness with Park?

Re: Chitty

How the hell can you read that Frome statement as sour grapes? He was there 7 years and reason you had to wait 7 days to sign him was so we could get a replacement. The best keeper Frome ever had and will do well for you.

Re: Chitty

So here my opionion on this.
I think Kent has been poor this season. Got away with a lot and doesnt seem to be claiming what he was. Over kicking. Bad kicks too often. Kicking out of play. I just feel he looks big and maybe he has become complacent.
I dont see how Chitty needs fitness. Hes played all year for Frome. Hes the best keeper theyve had as theyve stated and I think he will do a very good job. And may bring the best out of Kent once again. Competition can only be a good thing for us supporters. Its the management that have the hard task of picking the team.
Be interesting to see how Kent reacts to this though. I do feel he got comfortable. I think ne needs to lose weight (muscle not fat) i would say hes about half stone heavier in muscle atleast. I think hes too big to get down and jump like he was. Kent last season was the best in the league. I hope this gives him the kick up the ass he needs to get back to that.

You're making the assumption Chitty has signed. My interpretation is that the 'News' whilst not incorrect is that its been released into the public domain slightly earlier than we expected/wanted, and possibly before he's signed anything for us.

Re: Chitty

At the beginning of the season I was discussing the new signings made by Mark with someone connected to the club and commented on the fact that the only keeper cover we had was Griff and if going for promotion we should have back up. I was told that it was not practical to have two top class keepers on the books as the cost would be too great and as they would both want to play you couldn't keep both happy and that you could also get cover by loaning from another club. So I am sure there's more to this than just "Cover". So I think that Kent might be on his way, if so isn't he also commercial manager ? What happens here ? I do agree that Kent has not been as sharp as last season. Awaiting a statement from the club on Kent's status.  " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."

Re: Chitty

Hasn't Kent played up front for us before - perhaps the plan is he'll play outfield whilst also providing goalie cover?
