They are taking the wall back three metres so as to widen the footpath and make it safer for the school kids. Can only assume Wiltshire County Council is responding to today's report on the obesity crisis and making the path ten foot wide. Whilst Wiltshire Council must be praised for observing the health and safety of the teenagers I wonder if they actually carried out a survey as the kids coming from/going to the Woodlands Road area use the light controlled crossing whilst those from the Marshfield Road/Bristol Road direction cut up through the football/sports club driveway. Hence there is no need to widen the path as it is rarely used. Wiltshire Council are NOT going to Tarmac the car park so those of you (especially the more elderly and frail) can look forward to negotiating the uneven surface, deep ruts and ponds that purvey it. Another half-baked scheme wasting taxpayers money.
