    Dream Comeback

    After re signing Dave Pratt from Bath it got me to thinking..................

    If you could re sign any player from Chippenham Town's past who would you choose and why?

    And obviously if you have to bring more than one back.... then be my guest

    This is a good call Voice. Can I take you back to the old Screwfix League days (early 80's) when we had a good FA Cup run. We had a young Scottish winger called Stuart Greenwood, who I seem to remember was in the forces. He was like grease lightning with all the skills and tricks you could wish for. A truly brilliant player in my opinion, but only stayed for a season when Dave Sharland was manager. I guess he must have got posted elsewhere. Of course  my other obvious choice to bring back would be Beano, who else ? What a legend that guy is. I notice that Eastleigh F.C. are releasing player's like they are going out of fashion, but not Beano - oh well, perhaps one day !!!

    You know Beano is the obvious choice for so many reasons. I would love to see him and Dave Pratt together. He was fantastic with Gilly but a front two of James Constable and Dave Pratt. Well if that didn't win the league then I'm not sure what will. I would also love to realistically see Ian Herring come back to add a bit of strength in a holding midfield role give Alex Ferguson the roaming license.

    Tommy had his day in the sun at Wembley but remember that he also over saw the humiliating defeat to Dorchester that condemned us to this league for what seems like eternity. As for a returning player, it can only be Beano

    Personally I am fully behind Mark Collier I think he is a good manager that knows his stuff and believe he will get us out of this league. However if we are talking returning managers now for me I would only take one back. Nathan Rudge.................... Na I am just kidding I would have liked to have seen Steve White and Ronnie Needham continue in charge of Chippenham after narrowly missing out on promotion in the season they were with us. Bit of quality on the touchline between those two and a shame how it came to an end. Tommy was great but like has been mentioned before over saw the most successful and most disappointing time in the clubs history. No excuses for missing the cut to go into the Conference South and that has been the undoing of the progression that we had made under him. Ultimately I would take Tyrone Mings back and this time remember to put him under contract and add a sell on fee.

    White/Needham ticket was a serious cock up by the club.

    Saunders did well,  but like I alluded to with Davies, got to a point where he was out of his depth and had no credibility in the dressing room. Gareth Davies Blue and White army used to drive him mad.

    Gareth Davies was absolutely superb for us. And I think would have made a terrific manager for us. Unrelated but Eastleigh have let 8 players go including Kaid Mohammed and Jack Midson. Both would be incredible signings for Chippenham if we had the budget and also if we could tempt them down 2 leagues
