Comeback kids

At 48 minutes we were dead and buried. Then Mark made the changes, 3 goals and it could have been more. Ben Whitehead had a great game and Alec Fiddes was outstanding when he came on. Pity there were so few of the faithful there to witness such a great comeback. I suppose it fickle fan syndrome, out of the playoffs so not interest . Anyone know what's wrong with Kent and why he wasn't kicking today? " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want".

Re: Comeback kids

Very much an end-of-season feel to the first half - one or two opportunities but we couldn't dominate them. Looked all over when they scored so early in the second half, but the triple substitution changed everything, including the formation - reverting to a 4-4-2 and stretching their back four with Fiddes on the right and Jones on the left.  Very entertaining to watch, with both sides hitting the woodwork too.  "It's a funny old game".
Kent seems to be playing on one leg - not taking goal-kicks and drop kicking with his left foot (or shin on one occasion).  Great effort by the lads.  Keep the faith.

Re: Comeback kids

Brave to do all 3 subs in one hit but 0-2 down immediately after ht nothing to lose. Ironic that "we don't play with wingers" acoording to Collier at the meet the manager and captain evening, yet we turn around a game with a 442 and two wide men. Hope whatever is up with Kents right foot isn't serious - nothing said about it, so maybe it is. Certainly everyone seemed more lacking in confidence than usual until we got the first goal, so maybe some concern in the camp. Hope not a Sunday league outfield playing injury.

Re: Comeback kids

Good turn around in second half, Fiddes playing wide made all the difference. Good to see Ben Whitehead had a full game, and did very well, why he has not been used before is a mystery, he gave something different up front, and a bit of width.  Has Kent been kick boxing recently, re his obvious injury.

We don't play with wingers as a norm, we did at Slough last week and we were shocking. Just a gamble that paid in reality.

Re: Comeback kids

What a game though. Cracking entertainment for a shockingly low crowd.
