What next?

On paper our last two games were the easier of our run in games with neither team chasing playoffs or fighting relegation. Biggleswade at home we should win ( but not on current form) Cambridge away, fighting the drop, Redditch away, going for promotion and finally Paulton who with a couple of wins can still stay up. So if we manage one win then about 8th or 9th in the table is want we can expect.
So it's time to look forward to next season and hope that with a couple of decent signings we can have another push to go up. Something has gone seriously wrong over the last couple of months and this needs fixing before August or we will be fighting at the other end of the table. " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want".

Re: What next?

Ridiculous Comment! How can you predict any of the things you have mentioned here? Firstly the run in throws into light probably our biggest criticism of the season. Inconsistent would you really bet against Chippenham stringing 4 wins together? Might not be enough however I wouldn't like to bet either way. As for something going wrong over the last two months. It's the same people shouting about how we were over achieving at the start of the year who are now condemning us for falling away. Poor runs of form happen to most teams through a season ours has just been really poorly timed but believe me this team, this manager and this club is looking in probably about as good a position as it has been for years! As for fighting at the other end of the table next year with no new signings? HELLO this team has almost gone up this year we are a couple of results away from the playoffs and it's not over just yet. How are you to assume this same team would be relegation candidates the following season? Same old typical comments from negative fans who can never be pleased.

Re: What next?

TheVoice, You appear to still have your rose tinted glasses on. Would you not agree that our current run of form is that of a team fighting relegation ? Would you say that since the beginning of March has there been the passion and drive that saw us top the table at the end of January ? We have 4 difficult games coming up, win all of them, others slip up and we might sneak into the playoffs but I'm not betting my house on it. I have supported the Bluebirds for 16 years and have seen them nearly get promotion on a few of occasions and our current team looked the part of champions for most of the season but I'm sorry to say that we are more Villa than Leicester at the moment. Please prove me wrong. " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want".

Re: What next?

Hobgoblin you are quite correct when you say that your current form is that of a team fighting relegation, here's proof if ever it were needed

Re: What next?

I will ignore Frome Boy because his comments are completely irrelevant like his Football Team have been all season yet they appear to be shouting there mouths off about "narrowly" escaping relegation to the doldrums of Non League Football. I am not looking through rose tinted glasses merely stating fact. We have not been great of late and that I cannot argue with and it has likely cost off a playoff spot, however my point is simply would you at the start of the season given the squad we had and the belief in the camp taken 6th place and nearly coming up on the playoffs. Due to age I have supported a little less and have only done a 12 year stretch however I too have seen those "near misses" and experienced that disappointment. But I am saying the reason this is hurting more than others is we have over achieved and put ourselves in the position looking like champions and contenders to go up and sadly now our form dipped and has left us here. I am not questioning the players lack of passion and commitment over these last few months however just a little bit of bad form and also a lot of bad luck!! Lets keep the faith.

Re: What next?

Can't argue with The Voice.  It looks like a disappointing end to the season but it's been the best one for quite some considerable time and I've enjoyed it.  We're only about three players short I reckon - an injury-free right-back, a strong dynamic central midfielder (in the Rob Dean mould) and another central striker who knows where the goal is.  Sounds easy I know, but I'm sure we're already working on the squad for next season.

Re: What next?

Good post Insideleft, and I totally agree with you that we are three players short of having an excellent squad. One player that everyone seems to have forgotten about is Jordan Roberts, who I understand is recovering from a serious knee injury which required surgery, which I believe he picked up towards the end of the 2014/15 season with CTFC. Not sure what his situation fitness and registration wise is, but Jordan could be the 'powerhouse' midfielder we need and sorely miss.

Re: What next?

Agree, need tough box to box midfielder, will be interesting as to who is retained. Not looking good for a few I imagine. Least the manager is not shy of making decisions, remember Johnsy.
