Chesham dilemma

Reading through the fixture list I noticed Chesham are so far behind that they have midweek matches up to the second week of March. I believe the Southern League have a rule stating any postponed fixture must be rescheduled for within forty something days. Therefore we will either have to play Chesham on a Thursday- not a great thing to have before a Saturday fixture, or play them on the Tuesday before we go there on the Saturday - possibly an even worse thing. Of course common sense would therefore suggest this fixture is played midweek in April but those two words and the Southern League are not often found in the same sentence.

Rearranged for Tuesday 8th March according to Chesham Twitter feed and updated fixtures on their website

Re: Chesham dilemma

I can remember only one time fixture backlog was so intense that it caused a league wide problem and the leagues decision was simply to push the playoffs further into the future to accommodate the fixtures needing to be played at the end of the season and I assume that will be the same this season should it be necessary.

Re: Chesham dilemma

Official Southern League site now showing Chippenham v Chesham 15th March - four days before we go there - barmy.

Re: Chesham dilemma

4 days is a good enough break between games for my liking.

What a bizarre rule. No problem with us playing them twice in a week though, why should there be?

Re: Chesham dilemma

History shows that a team rarely wins two successive games against opponents when the two games are played in quick succession

Charlie Bird, were you a sooth sayer in a former life?

Re: Chesham dilemma

Aren't we getting a bit a head of ourselves. After all there's the little matter of Histon on Saturday. Although they aren't the team they were ( we all remember that fateful day in Cambridgeshire, seems like only yesterday) it's still a match that we must win to keep up our promotion hopes. Weather looks as though it will be dry and mild, so match should go ahead. Another 4 goals would be nice as it might come down to goal difference at the end of the season.
