A very tough game today, Dorchester are a very good footballing side who like to get the ball down and play. There pitch is huge with a very good surface which allows them to knock the ball around.
Hopefull with the break we have had most of our injured or sick players should be back. We played them in the trophy a short time ago and controlled the game for 80 minutes playing very well with Matt Jones 30 yard screamer separating the teams, only for a couple of mistakes to gift them firstly a late soft equaliser and then we panicked and allowed them to put us out of the trophy with another very soft injury time goal. Hopefully things will be different today, and we can come away with a result we need. I know that we will be well up for today's game. Good luck to Mark Tom and the lads.

I travelled to that game Jono, certainly didn't control the game, and the pitch is not great at all if I remember, and as for the panic, I recall Tindle giving the ball straight to them and they scored, do agree its a tough place to go and good luck to all. I am Xmas shopping, as you may say under the thumb !

Followed the game on twitter and at the end of the day a draw ( 1-1 ) looked a fair result especially as we finished with 10 men ( Jones sent off). Now for 3 points at Paulton on Tuesday.

Bold move by Collier to put three upfront and chase a goal despite playing with ten - and it paid off.

With most of the squad back to full fitness Chippenham started very well with Fergie and Griff playing up front, our tempo was good and we pushed Dorchester back, creating several clear cut chances with Fergie one on one with there keeper several times with Walker Harris pulling off one point blank save and the resulting follow up being handballed by there defender in the centre of the goal but the linesman missed what should have given us the early penalty. Chances continued to be created, but a combination of poor finishing and a couple more very good saves from Walker Harris the score remained 0-0. Dorchester always looking a real threat on the counter attack with Nathan Walker threading a couple of exellent through balls to there top scorer Charlie Davis and the very lively centre forward Jonah Ayunga who brought a couple of smart first half from Kent. Even the Dorchester fans I spoke to at half time could not beleive we were not at least a couple of goals up at the break.
The second half saw Scott Bevan who felt his injured shins pulling on the boggy pitch being replaced at full back by Matt Jones. Dorchester created a couple of half chances with the very impressive 19 year old Ayunga looking very dangerous and giving Mark Preece a very difficult afternoon. Chippenham continued to create chance with Matt Smith bursting clear and blazing a great chance over the bar with only the keeper to beat. In the 68 minute a long throw in to Dorchester inside there own half saw the ball headed on to Ayunga who turned his man and threaded the ball through to Walker who flicked the ball on to Davis at pace into the box, he was caught by Matt Jones just inside the area, the ref awarding the penalty and producing a red card. There leading scorer Charlie Davis smashed home the penalty 1-0 Dorchester. You just new all of those missed chances would come back to haunt us. With the Town down to 10 men the task looked very difficult. Mark Collier threw on, the not quite fit Andy Sandell and Ollie Taylor to form a three man strike force with Griff and gamble at the back. Griff produced a shot on the turn forcing a good save from Walker Harris. Dorchester played in to our hands taking off the exellent 19 year old Jonah Ayunga. That lifted there threat and the Town continued to push men forward in search of the equaliser. In the 89 minute Kent took a free kick from deep inside our half it was flicked on by Griff to Ollie Taylor who retrieved the ball wide on the touch line, he cut back inside driving into the box with the chasing full back bringing him down just inside the area and the ref pointing to the spot. Sandell picked up the ball and hammered it into the corner of the net. 1-1. There was still a late scare for Chippenham as the ref awarded an injury time free kick to Dorchester just outside the box but the first and follow up attempt were well blocked and the game finished 1-1. On the final whistle it felt as if we had won the game. This was a game we should have won but with missed chances, especially in the first half costing us dear. There are rumours of a top class striker being approached, but we will have to wait and see on that one. Well done Mark, Tom and the lads again great character and desire not to be beaten when down to 10 men.
Team. Kent, Bally, Tindle, Preece, Bevan, Smith, Allen, Grant, Guthrie, Griff, Fergie. Subs. Sandell, Taylor, Jones, Diouff, Norman.
