Re: Cambridge

Sadly we were not playing a good Cambridge side, however, the Park players did well. Several fans were last night asking if Ian Harvey was still at the club, perhaps some would enlighten the fans! Surely that is not difficult, on the Club site we used to get a run down on players injuries etc, how long they would be out. Maybe Mark could let us know in his G&H column.

Question for anyone in the know - where is Ian Harvey ?

Yes where is Iain? If he has left as somebody rumoured it is a poor thing that a player of 10 years standing should leave with nothing being said. Hopefully the rumour is wrong because with our injury list he is sorely missed

Re: Cambridge

I was only thinking the other week that our bench looked very strong, and so it is when everyone's available, but no club at our level can cope with seven out injured or ill, plus Bally off playing netball. Arguably all eight would be first choice starters too.  It's a blessing in disguise that we have no game this Saturday.  Hopefully we'll look healthier by the time the next game comes around.

We were all at sea in the first half.  Kent was unlucky with the penalty but he was forced to go walkabout a lot - so much so I thought he was in the tea-hut queue at one stage.  For what it's worth Smith was MOM for me, but a few others had off nights.  Write it off and move on.

Re: Cambridge

Poor crowd saw an even poorer display from a team that didn't have a clue, luckily there were no opposition fans there to share our pain. This was what has been said previously a makeshift team with most of the first team squad missing. Correct we have no strength in depth but those on the pitch didn't appear to even know the objective of the game of football, even kids know to win a game you've got to score goals and to score you've got to make chances. In the first half the only chance we had was Griffs offside effort. We as fans could see what was wrong why couldn't they. When we got the ball we either passed back to Kent or lost it by passing across midfield ( badly) Going forward didn't seem to be an option, Griff and Taylor were given very little ball. So this morning still second in the league, I hope that Mark has our full squad back for our next game or we could see our season heading for mid table mediocrity.

Re: Cambridge

Bit of a difficult game to pass comment on really. You can't be too critical of the team performance due to so many changes but still have to say was a very poor performance and ended up being beaten by no more than an average side. I would agree with most of what hobgoblin has said and even though a makeshift team  one or two individual performances were below par and some of the passing was woeful. You can forgive passes going astray when under pressure but when under no pressure a pass goes straight to an opposition player standing a few yards from you or worse into touch as was happening a lot last night sorry but no excuse. Right decision to bring Taylor on (  why didn't he start?) but couldn't understand why Campbell was taken off. Allen, Grant and Jones all very similar players so why not take one of those off and stick Campbell out wide where he is so much more effective. Hardly any attacking down the wings and not until Smith was pushed forward down the right did we look anything like scoring. A final word about Cambridge. Must congratulate them on playing the game in a good spirit and was good to see a team just wanting to get on with the game even when in front.

Re: Cambridge

Im sorry but we had so many players missing and your killing the teams performance? Did none of you notice we completely dominated the game just had an awful start and a lack of creativity up top. Personally I feel youre all desperate to see the club fail and want mid table so you can then complain. we've won 4 of our last 6 yet I notice people havent talked about thism lose a game sat in 2nd spot and this forum goes mad. Sort yourselves out. People called for Campbell to start be did. Shane had to be used used as Tindle was absent for whatever reason. Pook pulled up in the warm up. Sandell missing. Bally away. Seriously whats wrong with you lot?

Re: Cambridge

Yes we can add Harvey and Philips to the MIA list, but  everyone on the pitch with the exception of Blackmore and newish signing Harry Grant has had extensive first team experience this season, starting or as a sub. Its not like we played a lot of the Park team as others seem to think. Crowd was poor but for a Dec Tues night with the option of European matches to watch in the warm on the TV, not unexpected and unlikely to improve numbers with a performance like that. The next couple of games need to be a big step up or the home Boxing Day game will be another disappointment.

I'm sure the team line-up was improvised at the last minute, but if there was a game plan I couldn't see it and if we were dominating why was Collier and Jones giving them an almighty rollicking at half time. Given Hungerford took a point off Poole we needed at least a point from this home game ourselves.

Re: Cambridge

I do not hope for mid table as stratford seems to imply. What I said was that the team out there had no game plan or any idea about attacking the Cambridge goal. As for having lots of the ball, well yes we did but then did nothing positive with it.

Re: Cambridge

Love it when we lose, forum gets busy. I ask Newfan why did we need to take a point last night ?

Re: Cambridge

Games like this we will look back on if we don't make the playoffs _ Poole seem to be pulling away as Champions elect
