Re: V Bedworth

A very good all around team performance on there 4G pitch. Right from the kick off our tempo was high and we dominated the early exchanges. With Scott Beavan, Chris Allen and Matt Jones combining well to create half chances for Ashan Holgate & the fit again Fergie. As the half wore on an amazing but hard to believe moment occurred, Andy Sandell swivelled in the box and smashed his shot into the corner of the net, the ball hit a bar fixed all along the ground at the back of the goal bouncing out of the goal and into the goal keepers arms. Every body in the ground and both sets of players new it was a goal, incredibly somehow the refferee and his assistants thought it had the post and was playing on, much to the annoyance and disbelief of the complete Chippenham team and management. All of the Bedworth fans around me also couldn't beleive it and found it very amusing. Chippenham continued to dominate play and in the 36 minute Ashan was on the end of a deep cross and looped his header skilfully over the keeper and into the far corner to take us in 0-1 up at the break.  The second half started much the same with Chippenham dominating the ball and bringing several good saves from there keeper. In the 80 minute substitute Matt Smith raced on to Scott Beavans pin point cross and smashed the ball home from close range making it a deserved 0-2. Late substitute Harry Grant controlled the ball well on the edge of the area and smashed a thunderbolt shot against the base of the post. A very good team performance today against a much improved Bedworth side who included several new signings. It was great to see Fergie back he made such a difference getting about the pitch and was my man of the match. After the game you could see what the win meant to Mark, Tom and the lads. We now need to take this performance into the Biggleswade away game on Tuesday night.
