I see they are predicting big numbers travelling. I remember when we use to say that, so take an average of what they say and divide by 2.

Hi. I am not coming along on Saturday because my work is a load of cak. However, do not be surprised by a few hundred Maidstonians trotting along to your ground on Saturday. A few years ago we were away at Halesowen (this when we got an average home gate of 300). They laughed at our 200 away crowd predictions and said it would be about 50. We took 350 and gave them their second best gate of the season (only bettered by the very local derby against Stourbridge). As a guide, this season, we took 700 to Sutton on the opening day and somewhere between 150-200 to Maidenhead on a Tuesday night. Our home gates are around 2,000.

You will find us a generally friendly bunch who enjoy a natter before and after the game. Enjoy the day and I just wish I come and see your ground. Maybe one day

Re: Maidstone buildup

Funny you should mention The Yeltz... Way back in time our forum optimist (Robin Blue Wig) predicted 800 of us travelling to The Grove... The 34 of us who turned up had the Yeltz laughing at us for years, and so the legend of our travelling army was born.
Robin now works in the statistics department of the home office.

Re: Maidstone buildup

Playing in a pub league down in south of county. Funny how the BBC are interested in us now!!! Had to laugh at the Swindon fan who ripped up his season ticket and threw his shirt away just because they having a bad spell. I thought that when you supported a team it was in the good times and the bad. Maybe if we win tomorrow he'll jump on the bandwagon along with Mr Langdon.

Re: Maidstone buildup

Fortunately or unfortunately Hobgolin, whichever way you look at it, people will always jump on the preverbial bankwagon when a bit of success comes along. Remember when we had the fantastic FA Vase run and got to Wembley, everybody wanted a piece of the success. But where have those people gone now ? Cant remember who posted this, but somebody said recently that tomorrow's attendance will be a good indication of our true support, and if Chippenham people do not turn up because a shower of rain is possibly forecast, then the club will need to think of something else to pull the fans in. Saturday is a massive day for the club, off and on the pitch, so please spread the words that the Bluebirds are souring high these days !!!  COYB

I see the Maidstone forum suggests our good league record is due to the fact that we only play teams from the dog and duck

It's a wind up, it was only last year we played at the same level you're at now and until this season that was the highest level the reformed club had ever reached!

Not just season ticket + shirt but also his scarf and the entire contents of his souvenir room valuing £1000.

However this picture in today's Adver suggest he got his scarf back.

Re: Maidstone buildup

Reminds me of the old joke about the Swindon fan who after seeing his team lose yet again, decided to nail his season ticket to his seat. On the way home afterwards he had second thoughts and realising that he'd been a bit hasty, returned to collect the nail.

I'll get my coat . . . . . . .

Re: Maidstone buildup

Will be in attendance tomorrow first game for a couple of years! It may be a bandwagon but at least I'm going and your lucky the wife is letting me out on good behaviour!

I'm sure Maidstone will bring a couple hundred so a good turnout and atmosphere should be expected.
