Re: FA Cup next round

I really think we have a great shout personally I would like to hit the 1st Round and get the best draw in the Competition Portsmouth vs Chippenham at Fratton Park. Biggest crowds and best day out, financially the best result possible too!!

Re: FA Cup next round

Welcome to our Forum Stones fan, and let's hope for a great cup game on the 24th. For whatever reason I always look out for your resultS in the Non League Paper, with particular interest to your amazing match attendences, home and away. Because of the importance of this game, I guess your support will be phenominal for this one, and we look forward to giving you a noisy Wiltshire welcome. CTFC have gone through a number of managerial chances over the last few seasons, too many some may say. But the current management partnership are here for the long haul and are building an excellent squad which is reflected in our league position. Again, enjoy your day in Wiltshire, and I think CTFC will sneak it by the odd goal, and we will see you again next season, hopefully in The National League, South. COYB

Got to be said its a bad draw for us

Underdogs due to their higher level and the fact they are 5th in the Conference South

And not a big draw for either home or away fans.

Tough test but it could have been worse

Oh for crying out loud, be positive! We're at home, Maidstone must be the best suppported non-league club outside the National League, thus giving us a decent chance of a 4-figure attendance. With the First Round Proper just arround the corner, what more could you wish for?

BE POSITIVE!

Oh Yorkie I am positive mate believe me I have every faith in our ability to see this job through I must admit I didnt realise until looking today just how well supported they are. Just hope we can say the same thing about our boys on the day, really going to have to get behind the lads start to finish. I still would have preferred an easier game with the stakes as high as they are but thinking about it realistically you are right what more could we want

Re: FA Cup next round

Apart from the few local teams FGR Bath Cheltenham and a few of the other Conf National teams I would think this is the biggest crowd we could have hoped for. Looking at their away attendances for the league most teams have put 400 on their average. Games are more local but they obviously travel and wouldn't be surprised to see 400+ from Maidstone. We are at home and are in form so we have got to have a chance but as has been said elsewhere it's one go or nothing. I'd be tempted to rest Sandell Saturday as the game is that big the following week and he will make a difference . Exciting times back at the Town ground....wonder how many will be drawn back now. Best way to fill the ground is to guarantee a ticket for 1St round....should we be lucky enough to get there to those who turn up for this game. It's a win win situation then add more to this gate and keep those who do happy should we be lucky in to get thru and then get a good draw.

Re: FA Cup next round

Blueshaan, you have summed up the situation perfectly with your thoughts on the crowd. If Chippenham people do not turn up for a match of this importance, then it will tell you a lot about whether the town folk want a football club playing at this level, and hoping to go higher, or whether they cannot be bothered if the club progresses or not. I for one will be extremely disappointed if we do not get a gate close to 2,000 because I'm sure the good people of Maidstone will want to watch a match of such importance, and also get the chance to visit a new ground. The gate will also give the Board of Directors an indication of how the paying public respond to this opportunity for the club to get into the 1st Round of the FA Cup. COYB

Re: FA Cup next round

We have to play two midweek games tomorrow  tonight and home to Weymouth as well as this Saturday. Think Maidstone only have one game, this Saturday. Above post suggested resting Sands but we are never going to win the FA Cup but we have a chance of doing well in the league. What do people think is the priority given the whole season.

Re: FA Cup next round

Great chance to see how deep our squad is and where some potential quality lies. Red Insure Cup is of very little importance in the grand scheme of things, however with league games coming thick and fast resting Sandell isn't a great move especially when you consider the tough tests we will face at home and league is the biggest priority. Andy Sandell is used to playing at a high level with games that come equally as quick. I don't think he will want to sit games out and be used as a mercenary against bigger teams and his impression on the other players on the pitch is a big thing for us. We look better with him on the park. At this level as long as the boys stay fit and healthy I can't see why come the 24th the team that took the park at Uxbridge won't be looking just as impressive vs Maidstone. Ryan Campbell looks like a great addition and also with Bevan coming back Holgate looking stronger and Sandell being Sandell we could rotate the strikers keep them fresh and get a real good look at who works well together. Chuck big Ollie into that mix and we will be ready. I feel we can really take this game to them at home. Wouldn't really like to go to there place for a replay though as I feel they could be very strong there
