Re: Chippenham V Weymouth Latest.......

Great start to the game by Town, with a real high tempo.  Clinical finishes by Ballinger & Phillips and things were looking good but we seemed to ease off the gas and Weymouth came more into the game.  The mistake by our keeper was schoolboy stuff and gave them a foothold.  Another mistake, this time by Guthrie who recklessly lunged (it seemed to me) into a tackle in the penalty area gave Scott Walker the chance to bury the penalty.  We could have won it, with Griff going very close on a couple of occasions, but settling for a point after the great start seemed almost like a loss.  That said I thought we played some good stuff at times, Lamb looks fitter than he has done for quite some time and the new additions all showed up well.  If Ballinger keeps his levels of performance up he'll cause major problems to anyone.

Why was Griff (MOM) subbed for Gilroy?  Griff looked our only real threat through the middle against a lanky centre-half.

Early days yet but we might need the Director of Football to find an experienced keeper :-)

And why have we swapped dug-outs?  Doesn't matter which one we use of course but just curious.

Onwards and upwards.

Re: Chippenham V Weymouth Latest.......

Have to agree with Insideleft. Games are won and lost on small margins and the keepers error ultimately cost us this game.

At 2 nil up I couldn't see Weymouth recovering especially as we started really well. Of course their keeper also had his own 'clanger' which helped us to extend our lead.

I also thought Griffin's substitution was a strange one, but he did run himself into the ground. I thought Griffiths looked very sharp when he got on, but conversely Gilroy's impact was zero.

With Griffin, Griffiths and Phillips in the squad I think we definitely have goals in us this season.

All in all, after the first two games we have one point which isn't great, but I think the potential is there and it's clear that the boys are working hard for Rudgey and I'll go out on a limb and state that we will be contenders this season.

I hope I don't have to eat my words come May!

Roll on Saturday.

Re: Chippenham V Weymouth Latest.......

Well what a great game . Shame to let the lead slip but at 2-0 up i thought we were going to go on a win this 4 or 5 . Having said that Josh (who in my opnion is going to be a very good keeper) was at fault again. We do see this thing happen time and time again but he didnt let his head go down and did really well after . Thought there was some really good positives to come out of the game and Griffths and Barnes did well when they came on and i thought Lamb and Kite had good games. Spoke to Griffin in the bar afterwards and he said he has been struggling with a tight groin but didnt expect to last 85 mins  but hopefully we take this into the next 2 games and even though they are going to be really tough im really looking forward to them as were playing really attractive football and entertaining to watch.
See you all Saturday and can we be a bit more vocal and get a song going as this will no dowt help the team

I think it's something to do with the fact, only suggesting, that the lino runs in front of our new dugout. A possibility...
