Re: Poole Town

Well done. Sounds like a game almost spoiled by the ref but at least you won with a goal from open play. Good luck for almost all of the rest of the season.

Re: Poole Town

I could barely look at the twitter feed at 1-2...  But 1-3?.....  Any second now the alarm clock will go off and it will be Saturday 1st  August, I just know it.

Re: Poole Town

Not bad for a bunch of muppets!! Thought in the first 20 minutes or so we were going to get really turned over as Poole were playing some nice football but were pretty hopeless in doing the important bit.... putting the ball in the net. Gradually got into the game and started troubling Poole and took a bit of the pressure off when we scored. Second half started much as the first Poole with most of the possession, playing a good passing game but again virtually nothing in front of goal.
As for the penalties can't comment on our first and Poole's as was not at that end but talking to a Poole fan at half time he thought our first was a penalty. The second one was a penalty but a stupid one to give away. Ball looked like it was going out close to one of the posts with Chip player ( can't remember who it was) right by post and goalkeeper for some reason decided to go for the ball and pushed our player over in his attempt to get to the ball. Goalkeeper had no need to go for the ball but a definite push but something you see time and again and not given as  maybe refs see it as the outfield player preventing the keeper from getting to the ball. Smith's goal a right cracker coming just at the right time to put result beyond doubt.
All the team played their part and a great team effort.
Personally, and I expect Poole fans wouldn't agree, but I thought the ref had a reasonable game

Re: Poole Town

We were fortunate not go behind as early as the first minute and woeful finishing, staunch defending and excellent goal keeping were very influential as we grew into the game. Still made our task harder by occasional missed placed passes but also made some scintillating moves of our own. Smith - excellent - Guthrie impressive and seems to have a handle on his temper. Smith showed Poole how to finish with an absolute cracker for the final goal. Jones is starting to look more confident and Ballinger doing superbly as a stand in full back - he was most impressive. Iron out a few minor glitches and good things could be on the horizon.
