1 up sandal, didn't think he could score 🙈

2-0 final score (a brace from Sandell, the second one a demonstration of how to hit a football). Our ball retention was poor so it was a battle but 6 points out of 6 can't be bad. When did we last beat Bideford at home?

We are going to need to play better than that but 2 quality goals from Sandell who so far is proving he is a very good signing indeed.

SANDELL NOT A FORWARD,i think that was stated by some !! Ball rentention not great, however great work rate. A battle to keep free scoring Bideford quiet. COYB

The scoreline speaks for itself. When you are put under pressure, which Bideford did for the majority of the second half, and you come away with a 2-0 win, it either demonstrates that we are now able to absorb continual pressure, or Bideford could not finish. A mixture of both I feel. We look a lot more composed side than we did last season, with Preecy and Tinds colossal in the middle. Andy's 2 goals speak for themselves, with the second an absolute thunderbolt to seal the victory. People still keep saying he is not a striker, but any striker would have been proud of that second goal finish. COYB

If he's not a striker, with 3 in 2, long may it stay that way. He did say he could do it. I guess the really good news is that courtesy of his other job, we should be able to hold on to him.
I wont mention injury as it's too early to complain nobody else is scoring for us, apart from the opposition players. Bugger, I just did.
Great start and resiliance by the team to some pressure well done. 6 points from the opening 2 games says it all.

A relief to read the other posts because I thought I would be criticised for being negative. An indifferent performance against a team who exhaused their shooting skills on Saturday sandwiched between 2 very good goals - the 2nd possibly the best I have seen from a Chippenham player. I also wondered about Sandell coming on board as a striker and remembered his former brief run in a Chippenham shirt when he did little to show the talent he is now displaying. Long may his success continue - let's hope he doesn't get injured!

I thought we were too narrow at times and playing too deep, yet when we went wide we scored two goals. Encouraging, but Bideford did not offer too much, and a very poor crowd attendance. Perhaps a few more will come out of the woodwork on Saturday.

I equally was very disappointed at the crowd last night, although I have to say it looked more than 235 ! As a Bluesbar Comittee member, I am at a loss as to what we as a club and committee can do to encourage more people to come along. As inthebox rightly says, hopefully our good start will encourage more thro' the turnstiles on Saturday. It's very odd because off the field our social events, i.e. quiz nights and bingo nights, and Friday/Saturday night opening are well attended, so you deduce from that support for the team would improve. As a 'heads-up' to all CTFC supporters, we will be trialing starting in the Autumn on a nominated Satuday evening, a theme food evening, for example a Mexican Night and an Italian Night. So if you fancy something other than Fish & Chips for your supper on a Saturday evening, watch the match day progammes, and posters in the Clubhouse for details.

Andy Sandell commercial manager, striker ! seems to be doing both jobs at once. If he continues to score goals like that the fans will soon be back, so his other job will be easy.
Seriously, we are a town of some 40,000 people and we get 2 or 300 at an average game, so how do we get them to come?
I have been a supporter since 2001 when my 4 year old started playing for Chippenham youth. In those days we had match sponsers and ball sponsers and parents paying for their kids to be mascot. Does any of this happen now?
What can we do? encourage the young by free tickets for schools ( they might even bring along paying parents ).
Lets get them young, as one who is known to stand with the " old men" I see that our fan base is getting older, so soon we will all be paying senior rate ( less income)
There is a final idea I have to increase the the crowd at least once a season, that's either get promoted or get BATH relegated!!!!!!!!!!!!!
