Burnham

Lets hope we keep a winning team and do not change formation especially back four. 3 points will do fine, anything less against basement team will be a catastrophe.

Re: Burnham

We started well and controlled the game from start to finish and, but for the woodwork and a few more missed chances, could have won even more convincingly.  Good to have a poacher back in Charlie, but an all round solid team performance.  Great stuff lads.

Re: Burnham

Excellent result which takes us up to 11th in the league. Could not help but query the crowd that was announced on Saturday (262). I know we have to include the Season Ticket Holders for each home game, but 262 looked generous. Sure enough bought the Non-League Paper yesterday and the official crowd was 162. Probably our lowest league crowd at this level. What is wrong with the people of Chippenham. I know it was a perishing cold day and we were playing bottom of the leaue, but after an excellent away win last Saturday you would have thought more would have turned up. Not sure what sort of message this is sounding out, but it seems our 'die-hard' core of fans is reducing dramatically, and I'm not sure what CTFC can do to address this - thoughts ???

Re: Burnham

How many season ticket holders do we have?
I thought there was about 250 there in all honesty so don't think it was that far out Blowy.  Burnham had zero support as far as I could tell.
Lots of factors to consider.
1. We're mid-table with not a lot to play for other than getting as many points as we can and ending the season in a positive fashion.
2. Burnham not attractive opposition so unlikely to tempt the casual fan out of their armchairs.
3. It was cold!!
4. Rugby on the TV.
5. Both Melksham and Bath City had a "pay what you want" day.  It was Melksham's last game at The Conigre, and attracted 521.  Bath had over 700 for a mid-table nothing game.  There must have been some 'floating fans' who went to one or the other of these games.

Surely we should consider doing something like this?  Lots of other clubs are doing something similar.
Discuss.

On another note the pitch is shocking.  Fair play to the guys looking after it, but they're up against it.  Too many games on it, what with the Reserves, third team and U18's all playing on it.  Two games scheduled this week I see (Tues & Thur) which doesn't help.  That's another debate. :-)

Thats how I saw it - seen better games where we have lost but obviously I would always prefer the 3 points!
Come rain or shine - good result or bad I will be at the ground for our games (the odd unavoidable absence excepted) as I have for years and yes I also wonder where so many of the old familiar faces have disappeared to? I always guage attendance on the 50/50 prize fund - used to average around £85 - £90 - was £32 on Saturday.

Re: Burnham

Thats a shameful attendance, so if you were watching the Rugby (which didnt start till later) or worse still went to Melksham or another football game, then take a long hard look at yourself.

Re: Burnham

Blueboo, aren't you allowed to express your own opinion on here? I totally agree with Bluebird 2006, happy with the result but a poor game. We were always in control without really dominating and at 1-0 there was always the chance of Burnham scoring. Main difference on Saturday was we had someone ie Charlie who knew where to position themselves to best effect in the penalty area. Without him on Saturday we would have again struggled to find the back of the net. And of course the pitch was pretty awful which didn't help. Not a criticism as can't expect much more with the number of games being played on it. Bit like a season or so ago when we had Joe McClenan early season with  decent pitches great to watch his runs down the wing but once pitches started cuttiing up nearly impossible to run with the ball and at the end of the season he looked a different player.
