Season thus far

Dropped 5 points, lost 1, conceded less than a goal a game - Thats a really solid August. Worth pointing out though, that our opponants are all having iffy starts to the season apart from the one team that beat us. (Redditch).
Of course August doesnt end until this weekend and Hungerford I fancy will be a difficult test, irrespective of our player availability.

Re: Season thus far

Ah but that depend on who you regard as "our opponents". I would suggest that the difficulty with our division is that generally in any season any team(s) can come good thus those who may have narrowly missed out in the season before could find themselves way off the pace next time. We have, as has been said elsewhere, made a good start this time (and I tend to agree re Hungerford) particularly as 4 out of 6 have been away games so injuries/suspensions permitting, let's hope the run continues though I do get nervous deeper into the autumn/winter when previous seasons have seen us go on a long woeful run of results.

PS. Surprised that no-one has yet taken up Sweeper's comments re refs at HP. Keeping my powder dry on that one - at least for now!

Re: Season thus far

F&C I was referring specifically to the opponants (Teams) we have so far beaten, none of which are having a particularly good start to the season. That includes this weekends opponants Hungerford, who are displaying a degree of inconsistancy that must be fairly infuriating to thier supporters - I wonder which Hungerford will show up!

Re: Season thus far

Got a feeling the league will be very open, with the exception of a couple of clubs at either end of the table, so the more points on the board at this stage the better.  I haven't looked at last seasons stats but I'd like to know how quickly we reached our current points total?  Someone will tell us.
Anyway, as I've said before, not getting carried away.  Hungerford will be tough.  Wonder if they'll bring as many as Paulton?  i.e. Not many.

Re: Season thus far

They only managed 128 at home to Cambridge, so I wouldn't hold too much hope.

To be fair to Hungerford, the town only has a population of about 6,000 so the Club have massively over-achieved in recent seasons. Based on Chippenham's population of 40,000+ I would suggest that Hungerford have better attendances than us!
