Hardenhuish Park redevelopment announcement.

Todays announcement includes a variable slope to give us the advantage in both halfs of the game.

Re: Hardenhuish Park redevelopment announcement.

Judging by the picture they have built a stadium around Chandos park in Edgware (Middx) - In my playing days it wasn't a variable slope and i spent many wet Saturday afternoons clawing my way up it in the slashing rain including one when Swindon Town were 5 miles down the road at Wembley putting Arsenal to the sword.

Re: Hardenhuish Park redevelopment announcement.

It reminded me of my old Swindon & District Sunday League days playing away at Liddington. If you were going down the slope in the first half with the wind behind you, you had to make sure you took your chances otherwise you were stuffed in the second.

Re: Hardenhuish Park redevelopment announcement.

If you think this is a slope you should go take a look at Chard Town's pitch. I remember back in our old Western League day's going down to Chard on a foggy November evening, arriving at the ground and the entire pitch and ground appeared to be fog bound. Making our way around to the bar the fog suddenly stops at the half way line and the remainder of the pitch is entirely clear - bazarre conditions. Seem to remember we won 1-0 with a certain young Adie Mings scoring the winner - happy days !!!

Re: Hardenhuish Park redevelopment announcement.

If ever I hear the word fog, I think of Cirencester. -  WhenTommo suddenly emerged from the murk at the goal for the second half I nearly crapped myself. John Carpenter couldn't have done it any better.

Yes that was  a real pea souper - could just see both goal from half way but not end to end
