Re: v Cambridge

Players out on their feet - superb effort. Just what the doctor ordered

Re: v Cambridge

There was a real buzz at Hardenhuish Park today. Rather than the usual resigned atmosphere, where we half-expect to concede a goal, and where a victory feels less important. Before it always felt like a string of losses was just around the corner, whereas now there's a much more positive feeling.

The most heartening thing was to see that the space between the players has closed in. We looked like more of a cohesive unit. Players were supporting the guy on the ball (On the whole) and there was an energy and creativity to the team which seems to have been hidden in recent weeks, amongst the miserable defeats.

Really great to see it. Every player worked their socks off. The amount of effort was tremendous. Fair play to everyone on the pitch today.
And I agree with you, Beatbox - The atmosphere was good. Wouldn't it be nice if we had that sort of vocal backing away from home, as well? It'd add such a spark to the away days. Hopefully we'll get some more people making trips away from home now that there's a more positive feeling around the team.

Re: v Cambridge

As Alex Ferguson once said "football eh? Bl***y hell!"  What a turnaround from recent weeks.
Tremendous effort from all of the players, they all gave 100% for the cause and got their reward.  Agree with the above about the buzz being back.  Great vocal backing, especially during the last quarter when we were having to dig deep kicking towards the school end, and great to see the players being applauded off, both at half time and full time.  Well done to the new management team, not only for injecting some confidence and organisation into the team, but for grasping the nettle immediately and getting Bulman in.  I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the coming weeks, as it's apparent from his radio interviews that Mark Collier knows he's got a great opportunity at a proper football club ;-).

Re: v Cambridge

That was a great result, every player put in a shift. The management team were talking to the players from the off, encouraging them to hold the ball and pass short. Also I do not think there was a yellow card at all, discipline was good and team shape. I was a bit shocked at Ben dropped to the bench, but Bulman had the back four, working as a unit, it showed.  Shane Blackmore was outstanding and must keep out Tinds when he is eventually free to play again. COYB.

Re: v Cambridge

Wasn't it nice to leave the ground yesterday with not only a win to enjoy but also with a sense that something good may be happening over the new couple of years. A much improved team performance and a more encouraging display from the defence, other than the full backs who do worry me... Watching Blackmore yesterday you would have thought he was an experienced 30 year old rather than a young lad, Tindle should be worried.

The performance may have come from that "new manger bounce"  with everyone striving to prove their worthy of staying at the club and trying to impress but it'll give them a welcome confidence shot.

Credit's due to the Chairman, he realised he made a mistake with Winter and has quickly reacted by gving it to the right man and increasing the playing budget, so expect a few more in and a couple out.

May be a bit late to make the play off's this season but next year who knows...
