When I got the job I had to spend over 4 years learning my trade at Calne, how on earth people such as Mark Collier and Colin Bush weren't given a chance I'll never know, to be honest some people talking about cheap options and they are right.

When I got the job I took it for £40 a week when I left I was on £13,000 plus bonus a year, I don't know any of the board unless the webbs are still involved so it's not personal but 10 years ago we were the envy of all the local teams, average crowds of 780, playing and beating the likes of Crawley and Newport look at it now.

Tommy, I'm not saying you weren't worth it, but the size of your final salary really shows how times have changed at HP.

I should hope that you did! Isn't that what managers are paid to do? Get a successful team together; gates and prize money increase. Makes sense to me. I can't for the life of me think why you should be paid any more than was written in your contract, unless it stated that you will receive all gate receipts, prize money and transfer fees. Oh, hang a minute, you are The Legend aren't you? That explains everything.
