The New Season

It's a bit of a nervous time... awaiting this new life in the SLP. With one or two notable exceptions  in Freddie and BRE, we go into 26/27 with  a very, very young, diverse and new side... coming from all points of the compass. Always nerve-racking, we have a new and very young goalkeeper... quite small (comparatively) although clearly confident and happy to play as an outfield player when necessary. Defensively we have looked  a little shaky and flat-footed sometimes in pre-season so maybe the  very new additions in Sanca and BRE will give us some steel.  Up front we have plenty of attacking intent and some physically big players, too.. most of whom look pretty mobile.  The midfield worries me most.  It would be good to see a proven ball-winner and distributor (in the Reece Fleet mould) emerge to take command.
The Bath City news is inevitably  unsettling  and just goes to show what serious money might be able to do to an indebted and underachieving club. In unfortunate contrast, we have  clearly had a budget reduction this season, and will have to make the best of it.  Given the sheer quantity of new faces, I'd fully expect us to take a month or more to settle down At the same time, I don't think we can afford to struggle to find our feet for too long.  This will be a major test of management.  Can they mould a group of youngsters  into  an effective and winning unit? it will be interesting to see where Lee Collier's influence lies in achieving just that, as his expertise seems to lie in transitioning Academy players to the Men's game . At the moment, I'd settle for mid-table.  Ladbrokes have Gloucester, Bath and Chertsey as frontrunners for promotion. At least we don't have that pressure. Good luck to the team!! COYB!!

Re: The New Season

Red card killed us, had been all us up until then, and it continued that way until half time. They were able to regroup after the break, and in this heat with 10 men we were undone.

Silly red card, dirty tricks you’ll get at this level and you can’t react the way Kinger did.

No panic here, saw enough today. On to Tuesday.

Re: The New Season

Massive game against Yate. All the supporters who abandoned them in the autumn will be going on Tuesday (like me) to have a look.
I think STFC & FGR will have great seasons so it will be interesting.

Where is Olaf Kozella and Ollie Bray?
If you want fans through the gate please communicate with them.

Re: The New Season

Both injured, I'd imagine. Olaf played as No 9 at  Shaftesbury.  Ollie presumably recuperating still.

Re: The New Season

Recalling the saga we had with AA-H ie is he still at the club or not,l would not assume anything.
A squad of 24 players now. Hope we don't end up like last season with no settled side and forever rotating players which in my opinion contributed to the season we had.
I hope Olaf is given a decent run to show what he can do as after all he has shown (at Dorchester) he can score goals at this level.

Re: The New Season

There is no sign of AAH on the club website so I would assume he has gone.
Does anyone know the lineup that played at Uxbridge? The match report does not contain this. Also, the link to online tickets goes to Intix where the message you see first is 'No Upcoming Events' despite having a home game tomorrow. Looks like we are back to paying on the gate?
