Bath

Today the better side lost but bottom line is Bath however much undeserved put the ball in the net and we didn't. And yet again losing a game with the winning goal scored in added for ,what, about the 5th time in recent games.
I have been watching football for many years and I'm afraid that what you see now in virtually every game completely baffles me. Have the rules changed and I haven't noticed.
I am referring to the shirt pulling, one player wrapping their arms round an opponent and getting away with it. It's getting so blatant it's laughable. But is this because of instructions give to referees or a referee's own interpretation of the rules. A case in point today right in front of where we were standing Chukwu trying to control the ball while being held and his shirt being pulled at the sametime. And hes the one that gets booked.
Am I alone in this or do others feel the same?

Re: Bath

I agree with you 100% joiner, how on earth S.Wilson didn't get a penalty I'll never know but like you say shirt pulling doesn't seem to get punished nowadays.

Re: Bath

Very much story of our season that again we've somehow managed to leave an away game without a point despite being comfortably the better side.

Ref tried to let the game flow I thought for the most part, but did not give what looked the most stonewall of stonewall penalties on Bradbury, but when it's not going your way, it never will. Miracles needed now.

Re: Bath

Listened to the game. Not being critical of our play, as it sounded a brilliant game. The officials need to change their stance on us however. Think we had 3 penalty shouts, two were stonewall shouts, but a true story of our away form this season. We've tried so hard to get good results (I.e. 3 points), but it's slipped away at the last minute.

I don't want to say more as certain members on the forum may accuse me of being "drunk" as has been alleged before, but in all honestly the issues have been there all season and started in pre season. Aaron Amadi Holloway is a huge miss, Matt McClures ability has been missed, and above all Gary Horgans post match interviews are a carbon copy of each other. It's been an upsetting season with only 1 away win, the home form has been good but it takes far to long to find the best starting 11

Re: Bath

Thought Bath City looked shot of any confidence and their keeper was man of the match.Chippenham definitely deserved something and went for it with intensity, but again same issues crop up....

Don't score enough at important times in a game.
Don't defend well enough at important times in a game. (Scott Wilson missed a sitter minutes before his winner).
Another goal conceded at the death.
Happened too often this season for it to be a hard luck story, although unlucky today.

Of course football being football - still possible that survival could be stumbled upon -  but again, that good fortune would only paper over the cracks.

Re: Bath

Sounds like we went all out for he win, and in the closing stages pushed more upfront for the winner but the gamble didn’t pay off and we got caught on the break.
We really needed to win and went for it, can’t really argue with that logic, if we want to stay up.
Whereas Bath played not to lose, and on that performance have little chance of survival.
Which baffles me where they’ve got the cash to fund Bartlett, and if so why not do it earlier or give the funds to the previous manager.

Re: Bath

Just watched the highlights of the game against Bath.Looks like it was Chippenham until the last five minutes from watching all goalmouth action.Afraid to say it looked like the same problem create chances but don’t convert them.At least one of the penalty shouts should have been given.

Re: Bath

Won’t really matter anyway, on that performance Bath will get stuffed on Monday by Torquay and will be all but down.

Bath City did give the funds to the previous manager as they were the lowest scorers in the league but he brought in a defender on loan from Charlton who he then played in midfield.

One loan player imust be way short of what Bartlett is getting. And also given Way had a year left on his contract, so they would have to pay him off.
