Re: Two big home games

Deserved that.  I thought we were the dominant team for large parts of the game, albeit needing a Will Henry penalty save and a miraculous clearance by Will King at the death to save us the points.  Now we have to back it up.
Good to see Freddie Grant in full voice on the sidelines.  He’s running on grass now and hopes to be back in about three weeks.

Re: Two big home games

Would have been devastating to have conceded... either though the penalty or their last ditch scoring opportunity as we had always looked the more likely to take the points.  The first half was a pretty dreadful affair.  We were so lacking in confidence and ambirion that the ball went laterally time after time and got us nowhere.  There was a lot of vocalised spectator frustration, certainly in the Stand around us, as the default option was almost always moving sideways or backwards.

i don't know what happened at half-time, but we came out with much greater intent, speed of delivery up front... and general ambition to go and win the game,  The two big men up front suddenly looked dangerous and we caused Tonbridge all sorts of problems.  This new found directness and ambition culminated in an excellent open-play goal ( collector's item) finished off by Chuks ( as everyone seems to call him|).  and a big chance for Ezio one-on-one which he put wide. The reaction to our goal, Will Henry's penalty save, and the final whistle .. showed just what it meant to the players.  They have obviously suffered recently under the cosh and this was , however nervy, a desperately needed home win.

Please, please can we take some confidence and ambition into the Farnborough game.  Another 3 points, while still only getting us just back in touch,  could be transformative.

I'd second Insideleft's comments about Freddie prowling the Stand in the 2nd half.  His encouragement and enthusiasm was inspiring. Despite being a largely silent place,  it's obvious that under the surface at  the TSS there is a whole weight of good will towards the team  that is just desperately seeking an outlet. Nothing provides that better than a spirited, winning performance.
