Hampton & Richmond

Good away win, 1-2, with Johnson 23 mins, and McClure 25 mins, being the scorers.

Up the table we go!  😀

Any comments from those who went?

Re: Hampton & Richmond

Free flowing attack in the first half, backs to the wall in the second, but came out on top. Will Henry’s penalty save ratio must be one of the best.

Lovely worked goal for our first, then McClure showing his class spotting the keeper off his line from halfway for the second.

Without Andrews and Spokes, Bradbury and King looked assured in the middle.

Defensive three blocked everything in the second half, very resolute. Four wins in last five and free-falling Welling next up. Top half and and looking up.

Re: Hampton & Richmond

Many similarities with the Chesham game. Dominated the first half and comfortably deserved our 2 goal lead. Will Henry's penalty save was karma for what looked a very harsh penalty decision for Alex Bray's challenge. It was Alex who set up goal No 1 with a surging run down the right that ended up with the ball worked left finally onto Tyreke's left foot and a sweet volley into the net.  MM's goal needs to be watched to be enjoyed.  All his own making ... strength, determination and then calmness. They got back in just before half time from a direct free kick and then came out in the second half, just like Chesham, and took a complete hold on the game for at least 20 minutes. TOE and Hamzad came on and offered us some relief up front but generally we were under siege down both flanks. Lost count of the number of times they got to the by-line. All-in- all we held firm and were especially dominant in the air.  As 96 chipp has said, Caine wnd Will King did a very good job in  midfield in the absence of Spokes and Andrews.  Hard-earned 3 points.
Quick observations:- We started the game as we finished against Chesham with a 5 man  backline ( Haines Jac and Freddie plus 2 wing-backs).  Notwithstanding his goal, I thought MM has now had his two best consecutive games (or halves effectively) for us, ever.  He & Harry work really well together.  They each track back intelligently knowing the other is higher up the pitch.  They lay off to each other and to the wing backs... and they look dangerous rather than isolated. Special mention, finally, for the very understated, and by some, underrated,  Alex Bray who had a terrific game and made lots happen as well as defending as stoutly as he could a wave of second half raids down his touchline.
