Fast and furious and not a great deal of football played by either side and don't think either side deserved to win.
Main problem for us we were completely out fought in midfield losing most 50/50 challenges. Thats now 7 home defeats and with Worthing and Torquay
coming up you can only see that figure getting worse. Why have we won only 3 games at home but 6 away? Employing the right tactics away but not at home? We very rarely put the away team put under sustained pressure which evidenced by the goals for column. Seeing 2 strikers from the start worth trying. To many fans all this suggests is too defensive at home.

A TELLING FACT when playing at home and kicking down the slope in the first half we have only scored 5 goals this season. That used to be our strength. Most away sides on winning the toss choose for us to kick towards the cricket end for the first 45.

Agree a draw would have been a fair result. If we had a scored the winner in the same fashion,we would have said that’s the way football goes.Thats now four home league defeats on the trot, which at the moment gives us the worst home record over the last five games. Also noticed we have a forward on the bench that doesn’t seems to get much game time.As long as our away form holds up, surely it’s time to try at least two strikers from the start, whatever the combination might be. On a brighter note nice to see Tony back at the ground.Lets hope Tuesday night we have something to celebrate.

Another home game where the main priority seemed to be containing the opposition rather than taking the initiative. The midfield lacked drive, bite and urgency. We rarely give any striker we have on the pitch proper service and the lack of width was evident throughout. As always - nothing changes tactically during the match to gain an advantage and it very quickly becomes predictable stuff. This leads to our opponents gaining in confidence, safe in the knowledge we will play in front of them and never turn them. All in all - another hard and frustrating watch.

I’m so pleased I didn’t waste my time and money going today. My mate went and said he spent the whole second half listening to Swindon Town.
I’m going to give them one last chance his season versus Torquay.

A frustrating and rather freakish end to an unglamorous afternoon. Credit to Salisbury, who were a better team than the one we encountered in the Autumn, and who, particularly in the first half, worked tirelessly to shut down every bit of space that would allow us to play our style of football. Denied any room in the first half we got hurried into a rash of passing errors. The result was barely a meaningful foray into their area. They had the better chances and looked dangerous all afernoon down the right, particularly through Elliott-Wheeler. In the second half, we came out clearly determined to compete more. It was telling that the first 2 substitutions were for our 2 play-makers, Tom Mehew and Joe Andrews. It just wasn't an afternoon for their particuar qualities. So Will King & Caine came in to give the midfield some more teeth, and then AAH to give us options up front, especially as their two CBs had dealt very comfortably with every high ball thrown at them the entire game, up til then. After a double golden chance, the first for HP and then the ensuing follow up we duly and almost inevitably, conceded an unlucky goal at the death, despite having limited Salisbury to almost nothing throughout the second 45 minutes.
So......once more, we encounter a team who pressed us relentlessly and stopped us playing our preferred game. As I've said before, we have sometimes to adopt a far more unglamorous, practical approach when we are stifled repeatedly like this at Home. We simply can't surrender the midfield as we do sometimes. The Bath game showed us to be lacking that aggressive physicality sometimes.. and this game confirmed it.
Honourable mention, once again to Luke Haines who was fantastic; Luke Spokes who quietly mopped up and distributed effectively... and especially to Tyreke who must have run himself to death trying to keep Elliot- Wheeler in check, and made his own excursions upfield, getting some telling crosses in.
