Tonbridge (H)

Thought it was our best and most consistent performance of the season overall... and the point was more than thoroughly desreved We gave them few chances. They were really well-organised and effective in defence ( as their record this season suggests), and yet we nearly broke them down on 5 or 6 occasions.  I don't think Harry could complain, as he had 4 chances... two of which he probably would have taken on a better day for him, personally.
Good to see Tom Mehew back... and making a significant difference in midfield. Will Dawes just has a buzz about him; things always seem to happen around him... and his defensive qualities showed, too.; he'll fight to win back a ball and helped Lewis C out on several occasions.  The AAH situation is getting depressingly familiar.. and for no-one more so than him. I feel sorry for the guy. It's a real shame. Hopefully TOE will be back in short order.. bloodied as he was. Luke Haines.. another terrific game.  He really seems to have found his groove recently and was paintwork short of another wonder goal.
Good riposte after Tuesday night.  No doubt Nailsea were in attendance... and have been given something to think about before next Saturday.

Re: Tonbridge (H)

Totally agree, best all round performance on the season. A little shot shy maybe and definitely could have been more clinical and ruthless in the final third. But credit to Tonbridge they defended very well and you can see why they are undefeated.
Although they were persistent foalers and more could and probably should have gone in the book.
AAH, I’ve said it before, we have one hell of a player if we can keep him fit…that’s the difficult bit, but guess he wouldn’t be with us if he was less injury prone.

Re: Tonbridge (H)

Also think we played well today - never let Tonbridge build any sustained spells of pressure and actually had a bit of purpose about us going forward.Thought Mannings brought something new with his directness and willingness to quickly deliver crosses from the left - maybe on another day someone would of been on the end of them.

Parsons was maybe unfortunate with a couple of chances but strikers need games to be sharp and develop understanding - him being in and out of the side can't be helping with this. He did not look too chuffed at being subbed. Would of liked to of seen a bit more ambition/change in set up with the substitutions- against a well organised outfit like Tonbridge. Possible Parsons and McClure up front together 2nd half could of asked them some different questions.

Re: Tonbridge (H)

Although goalless I really enjoyed the game. It was particularly pleasing to see us start very brightly, something often missing in home games. We had players intent on going forward and put Tonbridge under sustained pressure. On another day we could easily have been ahead by half time. I thought Tonbridge were quite solid and could see why they they haven't conceded many, so ultimately a draw was a decent result. I would like to see Parsons and McClure start, at least in home games, hopefully to take advantage of a fast start like todays. Hope AAH will not be out for long.

Re: Tonbridge (H)

Have to agree with pretty much all of the above. This was one of the best 0-0 draws I have watched in a long time. And on another day it could and probably should have been 3 hard fought points. I was a little disappointed to see Parsons taken off. And he probably should have stayed on when McClure was introduced. As we looked the more likely winners at that time. Parsons was very frustrated when taken off. And although he missed a couple of chances that he would normally have taken
I thought he played very well. He gets into positions no one else in our squad seems to get into in front of goal. Strikers thrive on confidence but the way he has been used can’t be doing him good. But all in all easily our best and most balanced performances of the season. Against a very organised and physically strong side. I think Tonbridge new they were fortunate to get away with a point. The whole squad were strong today and we looked very solid especially at the back with Haines again commanding. Good to see Tom Mehew also back and putting in a strong performance. A run in the Fa cup. Would be great for the team and the supporters.
Good luck to Gary,  Matt and the whole squad next week. Fingers crossed we play our strongest available side.
