Re: Farnborough

Let’s hope that’s the last time we concede a stupid goal by playing in out from the back but I doubt it.!
Even after giving away a silly goal we continued with the same tatic , do the players and manager not learn?

Re: Farnborough

We gave away possession late in the first half after playing with a much more positive attitude for forty minutes. Then guess what in the second half we resorted to that ridiculous short goal kick routine and within two minutes we got punished. Don’t our management team recognise our players are simply not good enough with this tactic?
I thought long and hard as to whether I would buy a season ticket this time round as I can’t stand watching this way of playing!!
Let’s hope the injured/suspended players come back very soon otherwise watching home games is going to be very boring!!

Re: Farnborough

Thought we were quite positive first half but I’m sure you could cut and paste the comments on here from last season and post here and you wouldn’t know the difference.

Very, very early days but look much the same as last season.. not really strengthened IMHO.
Good see the same delusion on here regarding attendances, just waiting for Reg to turn up. 1000 plus lol
We won’t increase gates by putting up prices, poor value season tickets and no other offers for families, no online tickets, and constantly changing the shirts etc… we just haven’t moved forward in this area at all.

Re: Farnborough

Same old story - No excuse can be offered for this subbuteo style playing out from the back routine, again going woefully wrong. It is embarrassing and simply bad football. That it is obviously still encouraged by the management after all the goals we have conceded deploying this routine is concerning. Thought the midfield did not look right today and the game passed a few by.

Re: Farnborough

The goal kick routine needs to limited to a few times a game. Mix it up lads, it's not difficult. Don't do it every single time as the opposition learns how to counter it and the result is the opposition scores a cheap goal. We could have had a point today, how important that point will be at the end of the season remains to be seen.

Re: Farnborough

Almost picked the starting eleven, got nine correct.A few teething problems need sorting out.We just cannot play it from the back,if the supporters can see it, why can’t the management.Pherhaps Gary could explain why we do it.Thought until they scored we looked ok,but going two down was disappointing,so we have to chase the game.Bringing Bray and Johnson on,we looked more of a threat.Maybe 4-2-4 is the way to go,at least it would show some attacking intent.

Re: Farnborough

Their worldie strike changed the game, thought it was all us until then. McClure unlucky not to put us 1 up.

Sucker punch second for them, but this is the way we play and I’d much rather these mistakes happen early in the season than late. Two 18 year olds made their senior starting debuts today and didn’t look out of place.

AAH would have been useful against their big lad who won a lot, glad to hear he’ll be back soon.

For me, nothing to worry about after today.

On attendance, looked more than the 663 advertised and they’re always lower this time of year. Turnstile price is in line with rest of the league. Shirts change every year at most clubs, plus I saw plenty around the ground today which was nice to see

Re: Farnborough

Decent attendance considering the holiday season and United v City on ITV (the powers that be couldn’t give a stuff about anything other than the elite clubs) though boosted by a sizeable turn out from “the Boro”.
As for the game, we should have been in front before the two very avoidable goals conceded. Williams is all left foot so playing right side of defence unbalanced us I thought, and his error gave away possession. Great finish though. The second goal? Not even going to start on that.
Of the new boys I thought Hemmings looked strong and Parsons did well, particularly first half.  We need Mehew back and A-H (not holding my breath on that one) sooner rather than later, as we’ve got a brutal August on paper and we needed three points yesterday imho.
