Anyone not there ( and, sadly, there were many), missed a really good hour and a quarter of dense, detailed answers to a range of questions put to Gary Horgan. There will be a YouTube video of the session , with one or two edits, so no summarising needed. Lots and lots of interesting insights and facts, as well as aspirations for the near and medium-term. Very impressed by Gary's depth of knowledge especially of the National League as well as his ability to recruit and retain players thanks to a clear playing philosophy and a young player development system, all inside a limited budget. According to Neil, the Chairman, the club made a small profit last season... which for a football club at any level nowadays, is a minor miracle.
I don't think we realise how lucky we are to have a club in such capable hands...... And the pitch last night under the sprinklers!! A billiard table with Tony mowing into the twilight gloom..
Both Manager and Chairman put out a plea for greater spectator numbers... There is surely collective wisdom and ideas enough amongst Club officials and the fan-base for a concerted/targeted push at attracting and drawing in all those inhabitants of the wider Chippenham area many of whom who are probably not even aware that there is a successful club on their doorstep.

The local newspapers are a disgrace (Chippenham Gazette and Bath Chronicle) with their dearth of coverage, yet both are happy to sell their papers throughout Chippenham. We must be the only club in the National League whose so called local paper gives virtually zero coverage. I guess there is nothing the club can do about that. I have tried complaining to both newspapers with no success. Perhaps if enough people wrote saying they were boycotting the rags until things improved it might galvanise them. The club could help itself by advertising forthcoming games outside the ground including friendlies.

Did anyone ask if we have seen the last of the team playing out from the back with the sideways/backwards style of play perpetuated particularly at our home games last season?
In answer to the Chairman and Manager seeking bigger crowds this “style” of play was more than enough to keep potential fans away!!

Local news coverage is a shadow of what it was ten years ago. The Swindon advertiser/gazette has a total of one sports reporter nowadays I believe. Would be very surprised if it's any different for similar clubs of our stature in our division. Nothing the club can do to change that.
