National League club issued with winding up order

Southend United have been issued with another winding up order from HMRC. They are summoned to appear in court on 17th May. They paid £1.4 million to the tax man on March 1st to avoid a similar scenario. The current debt has yet to be stated. IF they are wound up the National League would relegate one less side - Torquay United (that might affect the cosy 8 West Country Christmas fixtures). The knock on effect would see one less side relegated from Step 2 and although Southend are Southern based in the past the National League has looked across both North and South and reprieved the 4th from bottom club with the best points record this season it would be Kettering 49 points (not Dulwich 48). Although it is all conjecture that would leave the North with 25 clubs as Hartlepool and Rochdale are relegated from EFL2 and four clubs promoted from step 3 and only Scunthorpe relegated from the National. So one North club would be moved South probably Bishop's Stortford or Gloucester.

I hope Southend can get out of this mess. A great club.
