Re: Farnborough (H)

Wow it’s over an hour since the game finished and my wife and I are still buzzing after that result tonight. Yes, we rode our luck but earlier in the season we may well have lost that game.
Currently the team seem hell bent on not losing and it’s working. Our second goal was the result of a brilliant passage of play which to me sums up our form at the moment.
Being able to bring on Williams and McClure late in the game helped settle the side and see us through to the end.
I’ve not been a fan of Spencer lately but he plays so much better in central defence and didn’t put a foot wrong when called on to replace Will Richards.

Re: Farnborough (H)

Not sure what else there is to say. What a team.

I’d challenge anyone who is shocked, for me, we played as well as this in many games in 2022 but difference is forwards are miles better. Recruitment has been almost perfect. No coincidence Joe Parker is a better player now he has better players around him.

Re: Farnborough (H)

Well, if Farnborough were the bludgeon, we were the rapier; our winning goal a thing of speed, precision and beauty. They really came at us for 20 minutes or so and made us look ragged and off the pace...  familiar pattern in home games this season.  Once we'd weathered the inevitable and denied them an early goal, we began to play our football.  Good to see Ollie T get a goal.  If Torquay do go down, they will surely want him to return, unfortunately.  The defence looked more balanced with Jones and King starting as wingbacks.  When Will Richards went off ( he was already limping in the 1st half) Spencer H slotted in well to his favoured position ... and became very assertively Captain-like and much more vocal than usual. He almost certainly felt he had a  point to prove... which he did. You can understand Farnborough's success; they are an effective rather than attractive side.  Obviously very dangerous at any set piece, including throw-ins,  in the final 3rd.  they were tall and dominated the box.  They also had a couple of really quick dangerous wingers /wingbacks who caused trouble.  I'm not sure why they brought on Ricky Holmes so late, either. All-in-all  we continue to defy gravity .. ( 2 x crossbar.. outside and underside.... plus a post) . An extraordinary and brilliant run of success that can only be celebrated.  Mrs Rambler was very relieved that she could now discard her official status as a "jinx". And.......Rambler out by only 3 on the gate prediction. He's beginning to assume Reg-like powers......
