Going for a Burton?

.. Is it time now, perhaps, to look at Sunday and our opponents: Burton Albion FC??

Financials: Minnows in The Championship 4 years ago where they managed 2 seasons amongst the big fish.  To the end of May 2021 they made a net profit of £133k on Net Assets of £4.9 million.  Staff costs = £4.2 million. Crucially, they own the Pirelli Stadium which is a huge bonus.  Chairman Ben Robinson is a dyed-in-the-wool Brewer, local lad from humble stock and has been associated with the club since 1974.  All-in-all there is a lot to admire about Burton.. their values and their sound financial position achieved through a Chairman who is completely dedicated to the club. Also their ability to punch above their weight with  crowds only averaging 3500 or less. Ring any bells?? After a wretched start to the season, they've picked up a bit, enough to run League leaders Plymouth close in  a 2-2 draw last Saturday.

Burton.  Home to: Marstons, Bass, Worthington, Carling, and Molson Coors beers among others; Paddy Considine and Samantha Bond; Marmite; Bovril; Joe Jackson... and where Branston Pickle was first concocted. What a place!!

The only thing I'll predict on this one, is a really good day out! An enjoyble pint and an enjoyable game COYB
