Re: Dover

4 points dropped in the last 2 games, from winning positions. No league win since September.

Re: Dover

I'd have taken a point going into today, especially as Young and Fasanmade seem to continue their recoveries. Onto a much tougher test Tuesday but we usually turn up against the top teams.

Will be interesting to read a Bluebirds fans view who attended the game today. We can’t seem to get a result once ahead in our league games made even more frustrating knowing we were playing against ten men! Tuesdays home game against a very strong Havant team will be a stern test. However, we invariably seem to be able to turn it on against “stronger” teams!
We need to keep the faith but it’s getting difficult looking at our league position!

Re: Dover

Whilst I run the risk of coming across biased and blue tinted, I’ll answer the call of someone who was at the games opinion.

We were bloody brilliant in the first half hour. Forcing mistakes from a side far more experienced and honestly, better than us on paper. We were creating well and forced Lee Martin into two rash challenges that resulted in his red card. The goal was inevitable. Hanks header saved brilliantly by Nelson and Tizzard was on hand to poke home the rebound.

Playing against 10 away from home, we honestly were under the cosh for most of the second half without ever looking threatened and good movement resulted in Harry Parsons going through the defence and not for a great save by Nelson, 2-0 up and home and dry.

Alas the home crowd got vocal, the Dover side created a few chances and corners and in the end, it was a rare lapse in not defending a certain area and with their first real chance, Alfie Pavey nodded home after it skipped up off a defender. Whether it was a corner or not was disputable but it’s neither here nor there.

Except a few more corners and cheaply bought free kicks, Dover didn’t threaten again in a serious way. The only big chance was right at the death. Harry Parsons teed up Joey P on the edge of the 18 with only a keeper to beat. Either right or left of Nelson, we win 2-1. Sadly it wasn’t to be and Joe shot at Nelson and the game fizzled to a 1-1.

Before the game, we would have taken a point. But in the end, we were disappointed to not take all three. However, the craziest thing I’ve read this season came on here. If not for the FA Cup, who knows who would be in charge. In a word, ridiculous. Horgan came in when our season was over, he breathed life into the squad, to the club and revived our faltering and faint playoff ambition. He masterminded huge wins against the likes of Havant, Oxford, Dulwich and Hungerford. All teams that were competing before a clean sheet against Dartford and a penalty win. Only a 113th minute goal from Ebbsfleet saw us end the season when if that had gone to penalties, who would have bet against Henry? He then took the job, his first trial was holding a squad together after one suffered a cardiac arrest!! He has since taken those lads to some good league wins, some strong results and into the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time in 149 years beating the highest ranked side the club have ever faced and at his first attempt no less.

We haven’t won in 5 in the league. All games we have dominated most measurable stats. Except the one that matters! We are in desperate need of goals. We have Fasanmade and Young both injured. This isn’t fifa or football manager. Players are on deals, we have budget constraints. If your strikers are injured, you cannot just go and get new ones! We dipped into the loan market and got Parsons from Swindon to cover the issue but there is only so much that one man can do! We are on the cusp of the biggest game in club history and there are people questioning the man that has delivered us there?

Gary Horgan is a Chippenham man, he wants this more than most, he cares more than everybody I’ve ever seen in the role and deserves our full backing in what is his first difficult blip since he took the job. Any questions of who would be in charge if not for his successes is redundant. His successes are why he is in charge and imagine the strength this club could have if we united behind our board, our manager and the vision it has for our future. This club is a great one! Let’s be great together!

Tickets for Burton to be announced very soon! Let’s get to HP on Tuesday for a huge game against Havant! Let’s buy those tickets up like they are the last game we will ever watch! And be the mighty Blue Army! Tough times never last, we will be more than fine with a few results and they will come, the performances are there, we just need a few goals and when they do come, it’s gonna be brilliant to celebrate them together!

Re: Dover

The fantastic cup run is papering over the cracks in league form. We are bottom of the form table with 2 points from last 6 games which has left is in drop zone. Whilst cup run is a welcome distraction our league form needs to improve quickly

Living in the past?

Lincoln at home was literally two weeks ago lol! Short memories in here lol! This is the first ‘bad run’ of form we’ve had. I’m not living in the past, just the reality.

Under no illusions that our results need to pick up in the league as are the management and players. Support them whilst they endeavour to do so and we might find that form gets on the turn Good springboard yesterday!
