Yep, Will Richards for me too, immense. Tizzard didn’t do much wrong either.
Second half performance much better and thought we deserved it in the end. Well done all.

A great result and a game full of energy. After we took Coppin off we had knowone in the box. Parker running down the wing with an empty space to cross into.
Defo need a striker ASAP , can’t rely on wonder strikes too win is games.

Another hard fought, gritty win. Prolonged drought has made the TSS playing surface, (despite the groundstaff's very best efforts), so hard, dusty and bobbly that cultured football is nigh on impossible. Both sides were really well matched for the first half hour although Dan Roberts inexplicably missed an open goal after he'd rounded Will Henry, prefering to hit the bar instead. Thank you, Dan. We didn't offer much threat but, at the same time, didn't allow them to dominate. At about the half hour mark they applied a short-lived "squeeze" and dominated possession , which culminated in a well taken goal by Maxwell Statham. I don't think we could complain too much about the scoreline, and didn't have much time to anyway as, Jordan Wynter pushed Alfie to the ground and he, in turn, converted the resulting penalty. Despite a weak shot and successful keeper parry, the ball clearly crossed the line - even to these elderly eyes. The Dartford protests lacked conviction. Rather like the Hungerford game, we took far more control in the second half, although Dartford always threatened. Charlie Sheringham & Alex Wall were thrown on in the latter stages.. but to little effect. Finally our pressure received its dividend in the shape of Jordan's perfect freekick over a sizeable wall and beyond the reach of Tom Wray in the Dartford goal.........poetic justice for the way he'd been repeatedly pulled back on his run to the Dartford penalty area. It was a good goal for Jordan to get. He'd looked a little disconsolate all afternoon... far too often receiving long, difficult balls at chest or head height with Dartford defenders all round him. As did Noah Coppin. Once again, only when we started to drive up through the midfield did delivery improve and space open up. MOTM for me was Will Richards who in his unfamiliar role as captain (although he's a natural leader of the backline) not only had to work his defensive socks off, but also marshall the young debutant Will Tizzard and fellow youngster Will King into an effective defensive unit. He still found time to push upfield and start some good moves off. Other mentions go to Caine Bradbury for some real ball-winning graft and delightful touches and to Will King who has got something of the Russe DNA in him. Only real downside was that we did make three really bad defensive errors.. only one of which, luckily, got punished. Will Tizzard looked fine, and although he did make one or two errors, he's clearly got talent and a footballing brain. As an introduction to Senior men's football it was as good a baptism as Southampton could have hoped... pacy, physical with little/ no time to dwell on the ball. Well done to our Club on a well-managed, short-but-sweet celebration of the return of Pablo Martinez.. who watchd the game from the Stand with his family. You don't have to be big to have class.
