Timing is very odd - can't be today's result alone. I could not be there today but 1-2 against runaway league leaders is no disgrace

Resigned not sacked!
The club say "mutually agreed to part company". By the sound of that they didn't allow him to resign. It was be sacked or go by mutual consent. He's wisely chosen the latter.

Is looking like he has resigned. Hopefully we will get some indication as to why- wish him all the best though, a few ups and downs but did some great things with a typically depleted squad.

If he resigned the club would have said he resigned, wouldn't they? Mutually agreed suggests the board was not happy.

Maybe he promised something which cannot be realistically delivered or he asked for something unaffordable

Mike has resigned ….The budget was not forthcoming this or next season , only a few players away from having a top seven finish this season and Mike had higher aspirations for next season but vision was not reciprocated. Just different ambition …⚽️

Think about it for just one minute.
If he’d been sacked we’d have to pay off his contract. He’s resigned but the term ‘mutually agreed’ allows everyone to save face and keep it behind closed doors and therefore not pay any compensation.

Mutually agreed still suggests that it wasn't dissatisfaction from only one side.

Mutual consent, we all know what it really means.
And what is that?
I think you are wrong in thinking he was sacked.
About as accurate as your score and gate predictions 🤣
