Where are we heading?

A very quiet day at work so looked at our form in the league since Cook joined.  I think I removed all the cup games

Played 39
Won 12
Drawn 13
Lost 13

1.23 points per game

Interestingly 5 of those wins came in his first 9 games which got him the perm job - before he recruited most of his players.

So, what’s the direction?  Looks no different to life under Collier with the exception of a couple of bright young prospects.

Thoughts?

Re: Where are we heading?

We were a better side under Collier, had flair with Chambers, Smile and loans like Owen Evans and Whelan, our best two players this season are Parselle and Richards both pre Cook. I have no doubt we will be mid table as minimum under Cook but the club has lost its way IMO. Peaks and troughs like most clubs.

Re: Where are we heading?

Quite frankly, nowhere. I would say still consolidating at this level, the first time we have been here. Relying on loan players is a bit concerning but we all know there's not really any other option. Its all about money (or lack of). I just wish we had a prolific scorer, that would make a big difference. Under present circumstances as long as the players give it their all I don't think we can ask for anything more. Much better than lockdown with no football at all!

Can't  argue with Chipps54 comments other than if we discovered a prolific scorer it would onlly be short term as financial pressures would require us to accept an offer from a higher level club (or a bankrolled team at our level).
It is difficult to compete with some of the big spending clubs in this league  this season and with only one relegation place perhaps our objective should be ensuring that we avoid that being us.

I’m no maths genius but what happened in the other game? 😉

Exactly that, not point over spending just to get in the playoffs. We are not ready to go up both on and off the pitch.
We are miles away from a National league side.
Most seasons we hope for mid table and a good cup run. We might get one of those this season.

It has and it’s interesting that since his golden oldies were (I’m told by those in the stands) removed for him, there has been a huge turnaround in performances and results. So far so good but would you give him more money to spend if players like Jackson and Stern are the benchmark?

Re: Where are we heading?

Good point indeed, no I wouldn't trust him with the money, budget cut and enforcement into using u23s has saved him, coach Mcgregor has only ever achieved relegation with WSM but credit on the turn around in results and upturn in form.
