Yes, I know it was bitterly cold and there were very few Uxbridge fans, but an attendance of just under 200 shows you just how far things have sunk.

Woeful in last third today and I believe we would have won had we had their front 3. Shame, but just not acceptable performances at the moment. I would suggest you keep the ball on the floor in those conditions and long ball does not work! Another payday opportunity missed.

With the life only just returning to His Lordship’s fingers; and Her Ladyship promising a romantic Saturday night in her particularly alluring Damart long-johns and spark-inducing Brentford nylon chemise, His Lordship will be uncharacteristically brief this evening … to the relief, no doubt, of all concerned. With 2 large ash trees and a Douglas fir blown onto the croquet lawn and knot-garden in the Great Gale of Arwen, His Lordship was somewhat preoccupied by other matters as he made his way, sans Bearded Wonder, to the Hardenhuish Surfacing Park this cold windswept afternoon. What he witnessed was neither particularly embarrassing, nor shameful and certainly not rubbish. CTFC bossed the entire first half but succeeded only in creating a catalogue of half chances, most of which made passing acquaintance with the stratosphere before making landfall somewhere near the town centre. We were lively, worked hard and were full of confidence but utterly wayward in our attempts on goal..Possession stats must have been close to 80%… but the byline, like a sad elderly relative, was only visited on a couple of occasions. Uxbridge had a couple of quick forays upfield on the counter, but otherwise looked every bit like a team 2 leagues beneath us. The worry was that if we didn’t score in the first 45 minutes then the tables would turn and facing a gale force wind we’d be the recipient of all the second half pressure, struggling to work the ball out of defence. The beginning of the second half assuaged that fear; we moved the ball upfield with some purpose. However, when we were given a fright in the 60th or so minute with an Uxbridge shot slapping the bar, we suddenly looked to be sinking back into bad habits at the frustration grew for having earned no reward for dominant possession . When Uxbridge undeservedly went ahead in the 70th minute, they did so by getting to the by-line, cutting the ball back well and then keeping the ball down as it was thumped high and handsomely into the back of Young Henry’s net. Two chances in the game… one taken. Well done them! Thereafter I would agree with my fellow correspondents/despondents; we lost purpose and any sense of a grandstand finish to enforce penalties vanished like His Lordship’s empty Bovril cup, (but not mercifully his toupe), somewhere into the Hardenhuish wind. But not all is lost!! Cheer up, Kev! I thought you’d biked off a long time ago? Or is this a Sinatran “Never again!”? Like that terminal optimist Reginald.. His Lordship predicts a Dorking bounce and a 2-1 win on Saturday. On a personal note, it was good to be sitting beside the proud parent of one of our young loanees, on compassionate permitted furlough from his day job of heading the Bristol Rovers Academy… Master Christopher Hargreaves, a crowd favourite at OUFC and many other clubs before them beginning, I believe, at Everton. A very useful connection for CTFC. His Lordship thought his offspring, along with young Callum Rowe, were particularly bright sparks in the gale.

Not the worst result of the round.Concord 0 afc totton 5
First 20 bright but shooting from too far out, no patience. After that very little threat and could see the goal coming.
Luke Russe’s miss was the one for me…
I genuinely think we would struggle to beat some Toolstation teams. The loans look average at best, how are some of them professional footballers? Compare the past loans of Twine, Owen-Evans, Whelan and Haines to Parsons, Hargreaves and Ricky - worlds apart in application and ability.
Everything down the middle. Stood behind the dugout and heard/saw nothing that suggested any sort of nous. Bad bad day.

We weren’t the only National South side to go out to lower league opposition also going out - Chelmsford, Concord, Ebbsfleet, Hemel Hempstead and Hampton & Richmond.

I'm probably on my own here but don't think we were that bad today. Yes poor shooting and ran out of ideas last 15 minutes, but not for me as bad as some earlier home performances.
Uxbridge often had eight men behind the ball but also looked dangerous on the attack. Decent finish too.

Well wasn’t there so can’t comment. I was completely overalled by the Poole defeat and then it happens again. I’m not especially bothered what happens now! Won’t be relegated! Might be tempted back if they make a push for the playoffs!
Would normally want to go to football on Saturday, but electing to go shopping with the Mrs!
Might go to Bath City, but wouldn’t bet against being turned over!

We were bad today. We were beaten by a team from a lower league and it's the second time this season we've been dumped out of a cup by one. It wouldn't be so bad were it the league immediately below but that's not the case. Yes, we started well, and for most of the first half we had the lion's share of possession but, like usual, we just could not score. The second half was always going to favour Uxbridge due to the weather and the slope. We needed to score in the first half and didn't look like doing so. How many times does the manager need to see the team struggling to score before he does something about it? He's got all these managerial hangers on that appear to produce no positive results and for someone so rated he seems to lack the contacts required to fill the many gaps our team has. That's before we get to the tactics he makes the team use. Overall, it was better, but still nowhere near good enough and I don't think the manager is capable of turning things around. £13 to watch that half freezing to death? It's no wonder the attendance was so low.
