The Phantom petrol panic

The Ishmian League have informed clubs that they can cancel matches due to the fuel shortage. Speculation on Hastings website that they might not play tomorrow’s league game. There is also speculation that they might not travel Saturday! Any official position on this from the FA?

Just seen on Hastings Twitter page their game tomorrow has been called off. So Ashford Kent can't travel 31 miles to Hastings, so how can Ebbsfleet travel 137 miles from the same county to Wiltshire. As suggested on Sky site teams in the FA Cup on Saturday are calling games off for no good reason to protect their players.

Re: The Phantom petrol panic

I would fully expect the clubs to be compliant and as accommodating as possible in getting the fixture fulfilled. However, sadly I do not have the same faith in the FA to provide a fair solution. It is likely the FA will claim no responsibility for teams being in attendance at the arranged games and probably rule that if they cannot make the fixture, they forfeit their place in the competition. I guess it doesn't affect us too much however, it would be a shame to see results in the most prestigious competition in world football reduced to whether or not a team can get petrol!
