From what i have seen of the pitch photograph forking was a waste of time and look what happened at Salisbury - abandonned at half time. came back along the M4 corridor on Sunday and the fields that had finally and recently turned from lakes back to grass were lakes again. Clearly very heavy rain tipped everything back to saturation point .

As for the p*ss taking by Frome. You might only need 1 fork for your crowd to assist but we need 300.

I'm no groundsman, but I'm fairly certain that forking a saturated pitch won't take away very much surface water.

With some slight knowledge I can assure Dauntsey Boys that forking would not have made any difference given the amount of rain that fell during the night plus the very heavy rain prior to the game being called off.It has also not been helped by the very wet winter and the extra games being played.I am not sure of the current situation regarding a groundsman but i am aware that our excellent prize winning groundsman parted company some time ago for what reason i am not sure, can any one up date me on the present situation as to who is responsible.

He Forked off some seasons ago. Been done for pennies since then. Dont think we have a real one, just somebody who knows how to mow grass.

Clive Garroway (our erstwhile kit manager) is the current groundsman I believe. He knows his stuff so wouldn't lay the blame at his door. I thought the same as Creakey, maybe the extra Chippenham Park games are taking their toll on the pitch?
