Hemel (Away)

So, we played Hemel Hempstead at The Thornbury Surfacing Stadium on the 7th of January. We draw the game 2-2 and it was enough to seal the fate of Mark Collier and he was removed from his position. Roll on ONE MONTH, we head into the game against Hemel with a new manager, 2 new coaches, a new analyst, 2 extra points on the table and some very mixed reviews about what we have seen so far.

Results, a draw away at Dulwich with a late equaliser seemed an all to familiar story. A draw at home to Havant followed by back to back defeats against Dartford and Swindon Supermarine, under heavy scrutiny due to the nature of those losses. a 5-1 beating from Dartford and 5-2 against Swindon seemingly causing much unrest on the relative social media channels of CTFC.

Hemel themselves come into the game having not won a game in their last 8 attempts and having to go all the way back to January 1st for a victory over a then very struggling St Albans, prior to that game you have to go all the way back to October for a league win, where they dispatched over Havant & Waterlooville with two late goals in a game they were fairly dominated in. 2 wins in 16 games coupled with a good few draws have left them 11 points clear of the drop zone in 10th position.

Lots of moves away from Hemel with a few of the players turning up at Dartford as we saw last week with Braham Barrett and Liam Nash both featuring for the Darts, Chippenham will be hoping to capitalise on their decline of late and begin a trio of very important games with a win. I would have to suggest the target here has to be maximum points should we want a real chance of climbing up the league and this is by no means not doable. Hemel are weakened and falling from the grace of the playoffs, followed by games against St Albans and Welling it is almost essential that we beat those two. Can it be done? Only time will tell.

Re: Hemel (Away)

Not an easy game, although they have struggled of late they have a few really good quality players. In the present circumstances I would be happy with a draw.

Re: Hemel (Away)

Agree a draw would be a good result. Hemel may not be in any better form than us but we have a recent history of letting teams on a bad run end their sequence eg. Last season Oxford City hadn’t won in 2019 until they beat us at HP  and Dulwich hadn’t won away in yonks until they turned us over at our place last season.

Big win and hopefully a massive confidence boost, now to push on

That’s 9 points the manager has picked up in four days... ;)

Re: Hemel (Away)

Fair play to the team that's a good result away after shipping 10 goals in a week
