Re: Will Richards

Well just speculation at the moment InsideLeft but Curtis McDonald is likely to be fit soon from a slight calf strain which would leave him and Parselle first choice centre backs as it has been most of the season and in Will's previous absence. We also have Jay Foulston who is a very capable centre half despite spending large parts of the season at left back. Harry Rutty who deputised last season is of course available to us on a recall whenever we see fit so I would imagine that it is unlikely we will see a new face unless something good becomes available on the loan market and with playing time being key to a centre backs success I would suggest Rutty McDonald Foulston and Parselle should have enough between them to cover. Couple of good looking prospects in the academy as well mind you and with Joe being on the First Team Coaching Set-Up, none would be better equipped to make such decisions about the youngsters being able to step up such as Rutty and Hallett earlier in the season.

If we are looking for an outside punt, an it would be considering he is already on loan there, I watched Joe Romanski for Melksham a few weeks back and was very impressed with the player on loan there from Swindon, I am sure there must be some benefit to the player developing at a higher level but if Melksham have anything to say about it I couldn't see it happening. Played a few times for Bath City last season as well so can clearly play at this level.

Re: Will Richards

I’ve seen Romanski play for Swindon (unbelievably) and Melksham.  Doesn’t look like a player to me, not for our level anyway.  Spent most of his loan spell at Bath on the bench, so I’d wager he won’t be retained at Swindon much longer.  Rutty got exposed for pace on more than one occasion when I watched him at Melksham recently, and hasn’t made the starting XI for the past two games.  We need men back there, especially if McDonald breaks down again.

Re: Will Richards

As opposed to young inexperienced players. Fairly obvious.

Re: Will Richards

I like Rutty , played well back end of last year in the games I saw, definitely one to develop.

Hope will gets better soon. Maybe tindle will agree to come back for a 2nd time and help us avoid the threat of the drop like he did when rudge was in charge.

We can live and hope

Re: Will Richards

Don’t need a left footer. Don’t think defending  is the problem either.

Re: Will Richards

Tindle is a Weston player now, Club Captain and they are in their own perils. I would be greatly surprised if that return came off. Truthfully I think we are alright back there even minus Will. Will is an exceptional defender and the only reason we need to go into the market, loan or otherwise is if an exceptional defender becomes available. McDonald, Parselle are obviously going to be first choice in that conversation but as mentioned also, Foulston and Rutty provide us with adequate options. Will is naturally disappointed that he is out for such a term but he will be back, nothing major needs to change for the sake of a couple of months or so. It is the reason why we have this squad depth. It certainly does seem the time for people to be making moves though as players across the division seem to be moving excessively around this time of year. Maybe one becomes available. I know one thing however, there are few more on the ball than MC when it comes to player movements and any potential targets. I know it seems like I never have a bad word to say on the man but this is for a reason, he truly lives and breathes football and if anyone is available and within budget you can bet he is already aware of them. Either way, I just want Will back in a safe and timely manner.

Re: Will Richards

I think Will must be one of MC best signings, it appears only he and Gary Horgan are the only ones left from the championship winning squad.

Re: Will Richards

Agree with the majority of the points above. For me Will has been the standout player since we got to NLS. I believe he could play at least the next level up, and if he was a striker rather than a defender I think we might have struggled to keep him.
