On a practical point the name won't fit on the board in the car park unless it's written very, very small.

Yeah, just get rid of the LTD part and it's fine.

Who calls the County Ground Swindon the Energy Check Stadium? The country is littered with stadium name changes but the new names are never mentioned.

I’m very surprised by the negative attitude to the proposal. To me it’s just a ground name. It won’t make the team play better or worse. But everyone’s entitled to an opinion. I’m not one of the historical guys that wants to keep tradition. People will probably always call it Hardenhuish Park weather the name changes or not. It was just a thank you to Neil,Jane and the Blackmore family for all the time money and hardwork they have put and continue to put into the club. Who without them we’d be just ticking along probably playing Dorchester and Frome.😎

Like I have said several times there are always reasons behind decisions like this.
So many valid points above that it’s a wonderful thread to be a part of, active and healthy debate. Especially the point about previous CTFC directors that have sat in the throne and done so much for the club but knowing Neil, no decision is taken lightly and if this has gone through, there will be benefit to CTFC in doing so..
We would not be where we are now without Neil’s vision, Jane’s hard work and patience and certainly not without the backing of the family and friends, volunteers and such that have helped this vision become reality..
Seeing posts like “I’ve just ripped my tickets up” and “I hate it” aren’t going to be nice to see as a club. If this is nothing more than a gesture from the club to NB and Thornbury Surfacing for their unrelenting support of this club then so be it. Believe me when I say worse has happened at clubs than a change of the name of the ground..

Always good to have healthy debate regardless of people's stance.

As Barnum once said "there's no such thing as bad publicity".
Interesting one this, and no surprise it's provoked a healthy debate.
From a business man's point of view Neil will no doubt benefit, with his company name being very prominent in all future publicity connected to the club. Nothing wrong with that, and a sound business decision taken in isolation. From the traditionalist supporters viewpoint it's another sign that "things ain't what they used to be". Well that's the reality of the world we live in today - clubs from the very top down (Etihad, Emirates etc) have to be commercially driven, and clubs such as ours (if they have any ambition) are no different. Someone has already mentioned the County Ground being renamed The Energy Check County Ground. Apart from Wiltshire Radio having to give it the full name on their broadcasts who else calls it that? No one. Anyone who invests heavily in our club, with clear intentions to continue to develop CTFC, has the right to call the "stadium" (makes me smile too) what they like - it's still thankfully situated in Hardenhuish Park, it's still a proper old atmospheric football ground situated in the heart of the community (unlike other new build grounds stuck out on the edge of town with good facilities but zero atmosphere), and it'll still be called the 'Town Ground" by the vast majority of Chippenham people, including myself. Just be grateful Neil doesn't own a septic tank company ;-)
I'll stop there before I get accused of sharing an office with The Voice.

Club Statement:
“We are extremely disappointed with regards to comments that have reportedly appeared on the Bluebirds Forum about the decision to give the ground a stadium name, which was done in recognition of what’s been achieved by our Chairman.
Whilst the comments represent a very tiny minority of fans, they are none the less hurtful given the huge impact Neil and his family have had on the club’s subsequent success over the past 7 years.
On behalf of all board members
John Applegate“
Who said anything hurtful? We just want the Ltd dropped from the name. To publicly go after supporters like this is not a good look. We are all grateful to Neil and his family.

No problem with the name addition. I say addition as many sides keep their old name as the second line of their address.
The Thornbury Surfacing Ltd Stadium
Hardenhuish Park
Bristol Road
Chippenham
Is just fine by me.
About time we caught up with the 21st century, probably the only team in our league not to have a stadium sponsor/name.
As for the actual name it recognises the current chairman’s vast investment in the club and I for one am very grateful.

I’ve just ripped up my 2 tickets I bought for the FA cup game in disgust.
No you haven’t, couldn’t care less what’s it’s calked. I might disagree with someone me on here about team selection, tactics etc..
But you won’t here me say a bad word about the board and especially The Blackmore’s. they have put the club we’re it is. So if they name it after their pet Hamster for all I care
