Nights Like That

Well, that was absolutely amazing. Absolute credit goes to Mark, Gary and all the players that have played a huge role in another huge game in the context of Chippenham Town’s season. 2005 was the last time we made the 1st Round Proper and as many have eluded too, the job is not yet done. We are back in the firing line for the fabled “Giant Killing” now and strange to think of us ever in that position being shot at as opposed to causing the shock but we have given ourselves every chance with a good draw and a good chance to get over the line.

The lads were fantastic last night, every fan couldn’t have asked for more and the sense of togetherness running through this club couldn’t have been demonstrated more at Full Time with the celebrations behind the goal, players running to join, every player shook every hand, hugs, kisses, sweat all being swapped. Coming a year on from our last jaunt up that way in the FA Cup, some real demons exercised and a real performance of grit and determination from our lads.

Lovely to see a smile on the face of the chairman at full time as well, this man works tirelessly for us and we can count ourselves very lucky we have a man like Neil in place, so many others don’t in this business of football nowadays and the biggest grin belonged to him last night and rightly so!

Concord loses a little pomp and circumstance no doubt with the game against Whyteleaf on the horizon, but it’s imperative we get there in as many numbers as we can. So many players last night, coming and finding fans and telling them how wonderful it is to have them there and share this experience with them, they’ve earned a good turnout in Surrey and another “hopefully” Memorable FA Cup tie..

Re: Nights Like That

Great title for a thread. Nights like that are absolutely what it's all about and huge credit has to go to everyone involved as most would agree we were underdogs. Maidenhead hurt so much last year it's great that has been forgotten now and what a day to look forward to on the 19th. I envy all of you that were there to see it!!!

Re: Nights Like That

No let’s not remember the game at Paulton or Slimbridge or any other times we didn’t make the grade. Let’s focus on the positive vibes that have led us to this point. We are not the same side, complacency isn’t an issue. Whyteleaf are gonna be treating this as their cup final, as are we. Let’s hope we have the better players on the day and we get to our goal. But, let’s never focus on negatives heading into a game this huge!

Re: Nights Like That

Let us remember Basingstoke away and the scenes in the clubhouse afterwards.  Our away win at Kings Lynn in the playoffs and that day at Hitchin.  Positive everyone

Plus Mark Collier is a proven winner in this competition having previously taken Supermarine to the second round proper in 2010. While there isn't any room for complacency, we can definitely approach the game with a very positive attitude.
