Re: Slough Town (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

A great game, rode our luck a bit in the first half. Some great goals from both teams.
Did the second half start late? The game ended at 16:55 on my watch, where did that time come from.
Think we’ll have to have even more luck to win this one away.
Still not impressed with Hopper, offers very little.

They were a good side and we usually struggle away. Wouldn't put it completely past us though, would be an incredible result if we could pull it off.

That’s more like it, edenmcc!

Re: Slough Town (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

We hope for the best in the replay, but cannot help but think we had our best chance today. Defending has been our downfall recently, drawing matches we could have won. Ironic really after the first few games of the season when we were very tight at the back but couldn't score. Most of us thought it would be a close game, and I see no reason why the replay wont be close again. Plenty of positives to take out of the game, not least of which we are still in the cup and into the draw for the next round!

Re: Slough Town (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

Telling you now for nothing, my heart is struggling to recover with all this late drama! Unfortunate not to get the job done today, good side Slough but saw nothing about them for us to really fear Tuesday night. We created more clear cut chances than they did, buoyed by a very suspect referee who seemed to blow every time they hit the deck in the first half, two very contentious offside decisions and ultimately a poor showing from the officials today. Nell and Zeb had chances, 3 goals scored and to be honest we never looked out of third gear. Unfortunate with the goals, first was never a free kick, bounce back off the post like that and sadly was always gonna cause danger and sadly their third goal, you just can’t teach height! Birdy is a big lad and it was a quality delivery, just gotta say fair play sometimes. Tuesday should be good with a good deal of Town fans at the end making plans for the trip. We won’t be fancied in their, role of underdog suits us much better and I’m going for a sneaky 2-1 win and a place in the next round for the Town!!

Stay positive people ;) COYMB

Re: Slough Town (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

Good game and Slough were a good team.  Why do we always defend so deep when we are winning. That was our down fall yesterday.  Still in with a good chance on Tuesday.

Re: Slough Town (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

Spoke to a Slough fan at half time and he wasn't confident they could turn their lead into a win. To quote " We never win here." He was right. We should have won once we took the lead, as others have said we fell back to defend too deep and gave their players loads of time with the ball. Start of the season so tight at the back but now we just leak goals, no leader on the field the sooner Will Richards comes back the better and dare I say it we miss someone like Tins to shore up the defence and as a team we are too light weight compared to a lot of the teams at this level.
Hope we can snatch a win on Tuesday.

Totally agree Reginald74. Most goals conceded are crossed in from wide, Will is the best header in the team. Having said that Slough's equaliser was (almost) undefendable.
